Chapter 381
I fled Henry’s hospital room like my life depended on it, not stopping until I reached my desk. I collapsed into my chair, my heart pounding violently as I desperately bird to catch my breath.
God, the moment my fingertips touched his smooth chest and felt those firm muscles beneath my hand, memories flooded back like a fidal wave–six years of marriage, countless intimate nights.
The feel of his skin awakened something primal inside me that I was completely unprepared for.
Back then, I’d been much bolder, much more shameless. I used to wrap my long, pale legs around his waist, my hands exploring his abe one by one, telling him that men with good bodies performed better in bed.
Good Lord, I can’t believe I actually said things like that.
Henry, ever the perfectionist, had taken those compliments as a challenge, becoming even more passionate, even more energetic. And now. feeling those muscles again, my mind instantly recalled our intense entanglements, how perfectly our bodies had fit together…
“Sophia? Come with me for a moment.”
Violet’s voice pulled me from my inappropriate daydream. I followed her, grateful for something to distract me from my wayward thoughts.
In her office, Violet briefed me on William’s condition. I quickly understood what she was saying: even with a suitable heart transplant, the old man would have three years at most.
“William has made his decision,” Violet explained gently. “He doesn’t want the transplant. He says there’s no point wasting a good heart on him when someone else might need it more. He figures he can last about three years on medication anyway, so why go through surgery?
I sat there, too shocked to speak. How do you convince someone that three years is worth fighting for? Just as I was racking my brain for a way to change William’s mind, a nurse knocked on the office door.
“Dr. Wilson? Mr. Harding in the VIP room says he’s feeling unwell. He’s asking for you specifically.”
I rolled my eyes. What was Henry up to now?
After apologizing to Violet, I headed toward his room, struggling to contain my anger.
When I pushed open the door, I found Henry sitting up in bed with what looked like an impromptu office set up on his bedside table. Documents were piled high, and he was awkwardly trying to write with his left hand. He looked up when I entered, offering a strange smile.
“What do you think of my left–handed writing?” he asked, as if we were having a normal conversation, as if he hadn’t been toying with me
earlier.
There wasn’t a trace of malice in his expression–he genuinely seemed to just want my opinion on his handwriting.
My eyes involuntarily drifted to his right arm, where a long, twisted scar ran from his wrist up toward his elbow.
A scar he’d gotten because of me.
In an instant, all my anger evaporated.
I moved to his left side and glanced at his writing. “It looks good,” I lied.
In reality, the characters were crooked and barely legible, nothing like his usual elegant handwriting. I could just barely make out that he’d written ‘Henry Harding.

Chapter 381
Ite set down the pen and Inked up at me. Why did you roh sway early?”
The moment he brought it up, I felt husst rising to my est again, just like before.
The memory of touching his chest was still too fresh, tos vivid
Henry immediately noticed my reddening bars and his face broke into a triomphant smile. Before I could reart, he grabheit my hand and planned it directly on his chest.
“Like it? Here, feel all you want!”
My fingertips pressed against firm muscle, and I could feel the power beneath his skin. That firm yet slightly yielding texture sent my mind spinning into dangerous territory. I snapped back to reality and yanked my hand away as if I’d been burned.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing? 1 hissed, glaring at him. This is a hospital!
Seriously, what kind of patient has this much energy to mess around?
Henry’s eyebrows furrowed briefly as he watched my hand withdraw, then his face settled into a cold smirk. “I thought you liked it? I was just helping you do what you wanted but were too afraid to do yourself.”
1 snorted, giving him my most contemptuous look. “Thank you so much, Mr. Harding! Stop messing with me! If you’re not busy, why don’t you just discharge yourself? We have patients who actually need these beds.”
This irritating man–Violet had told me he could be discharged, but he was just refusing to leave.
Who knows what he was thinking?
And worse, he was flirting with me! What did he think the hospital was, a singles bar?
Henry seemed surprised by my outburst, then flashed that infuriating smirk again. “Why are you shouting? I’m a patient, remember?
I exhaled deeply, trying to control my rage, clenching my jaw as I spoke. “Mr. Harding, if there’s nothing wrong with you, please stop this nonsense, okay? Some of us are adults with actual work to do, unlike you with all your free time.”
Henry doubled down, his expression becoming increasingly suggestive. “We’re both adults, aren’t we? And adults should do certain adult things…”
His meaning couldn’t have been clearer.
“Enough!” I cut him off before he could finish. “Henry, if you keep this up, I’m leaving right now and requesting someone else take over your
case!”
Far from being upset, Henry actually laughed at my threat. “Sophia, what kind of attitude is that? With behavior like this, I could file a complaint against you.”
“Is this how you treat patients? Where’s your professional ethics?”
He was deliberately poking at what he knew I cared about, and I found myself momentarily speechless.
But I wasn’t about to back down. I straightened my spine and looked at him with undisguised contempt.
“Mr. Harding, you’re not even a real patient anymore. Violet says you’re cleared for discharge. I’d suggest you stop wasting medical resources.
Henry bit the inside of his cheek, letting out a cold laugh. I’m paying for this room, so what right do you have to kick me out? And how do you know I’m ready for discharge? Who told you that? He paused dramatically.
Chapter 381
My chest still hurts, you know.”
I saw the gleam in his eyes he was going to try the same trick again.
This man’s audacity was simply unbelievable.
“Fine! I’ll examine you!” I smiled sweetly. “But just so you know, I have a heavy hand. You’ll need to tough it out!”
This wasn’t going to be a normal examination.
Before he could respond, I gathered all my strength and pressed down hard on his chest.
Henry yelped in pain, but I didn’t let up. If anything, I increased the pressure.
“Sorry, Mr. Harding! I’m just naturally strong. I usually hold back with patients, but seeing how fit you are, I’m sure you can handle it!”
Henry sucked in sharp breaths through his teeth. “Can’t you be gentler?”
Satisfied with his pained expression, I finally pulled my hand away and turned toward the door.
“I have work to do. Entertain yourself.”
