Chapter 370
Henry gave him a sidelong glance. “Where were you when Sophia was in love with me?“,
Alexander’s response was cutting: “But you’re divorced now, aren’t you? All of us have a chance to pursue Sophia now–everyone except you, ex
husband.”
Alexander’s words were cruel but undeniably true.
Henry stood under the dappled shadows of the trees, his handsome face filled with uncertainty.
Night had fallen. Billy was fast asleep, exhausted from his adventure–filled day. He made soft snoring sounds as he slept.
I was still awake, organizing materials from the conference.
My phone vibrated with a message from Henry: Sophia, I still haven’t eaten dinner. My stomach hurts. Could you help me feel better?
Henry had always had stomach problems, and for years, I’d been the one helping him manage them. Seeing his message about his discomfort, my heart softened. After all, I was a healthcare worker. After a moment’s hesitation, I replied: Fine, come over,
I’d barely sent the message when there was a knock at the door.
I opened it and handed him a cup of hot water without inviting him in.
“Here’s some hot water. Drink this, then go down to the restaurant for dinner. It should help you get through the discomfort.”
Henry’s smile froze. He’d hoped that playing the sympathy card would at least soften my heart, if not earn me as a dinner companion. At minimum, he’d expected to be invited inside. But I was keeping him firmly in the hallway.
Benjamin had told him that if he wanted me back, he’d have to be shameless.
Henry clutched his stomach with his right hand, looking at me with a pained expression. “My stomach really hurts. Do you have any medicine?”
I held the water cup, watching him stare at me with those pitiful eyes. After a moment’s internal debate, I decided to help him. “Wait here!” After handing him the cup, I turned back into the room to fetch some medicine.
Henry took advantage of this opportunity to slip inside and lie down on the sofa.
“Here, take this.” After swallowing the medicine and setting down the cup, he remained stretched out on the sofa, asking weakly, “Can I just rest here for a while?”
Looking at his pale face, I didn’t have the heart to refuse. “Fine, lie down for a bit. You can leave when you’re feeling better.”
However, I’d barely lain back down on my bed when I heard Henry groaning in pain.
Despite repeatedly telling myself, Don’t worry about Henry! He’s taken medicine; he’ll be fine soon. Stop caring so much, the sound of his increasingly frequent moans forced me out of bed.
I threw off the covers and marched over to the sofa, barely containing my anger. “Henry, what exactly do you want?”
“I just want you to massage my stomach like you used to,” he admitted.
Before our divorce, whenever Henry had stomach pain, I would always massage his abdomen to help him feel better.
Looking at his increasingly demanding attitude, I asked, “The medicine didn’t work at all?”

Henry put on his most pathetic expression. “Fine, I can see I’m bothering you. You don’t have to tell me to leave–I’ll go.
As he spoke, he wobbled unsteadily to his feet. Seeing him struggle to stand, I quickly moved to support him.
Henry grabbed my helping hand and used the momentum to collapse back onto the sofa. Seeing how extremely pale he looked, I couldn’t bring myself to scold him further.
“Fine,” I said through gritted teeth, “lie down properly. I’ll massage you.”
The corners of Henry’s mouth lifted in a barely concealed smile of triumph.
