Amelia smiled at the elderly director. “Sir, thank you for your hard work. Could you take me to see El?”
A hint of warmth flickered in the elderly director’s eyes. “Come on then. Eli still doesn’t know the face of the person who saved his life. Who knows if he’ll ever wake up.
The elderly director led the way, and Amelia followed slowly behind him.
They passed through a long, worn–out but spotless hallway and finally stopped in front of a cozy hospital
room.
When the door opened, Amelia was surprised to find the room equipped with top–of–the–line medical machines that were easily worth at least a million.
The kind of setup is only found in major hospitals.
While expertly checking the monitors and data, the old director let out a quiet sigh. “Keeping things stable like this is already the best we can hope for.
“The government offered to transfer Eli to a better hospital or even bring in foreign specialists, but I know his condition too well. We’ve tried everything. At this point, it’s just a matter of luck whether he wakes up or
not.”
Amelia took a moment to glance at the name on the chart. The man’s name was Elias. He looked like he was in his twenties, with sharp and dignified features.
She had no idea what kind of entanglement she had with Elias before losing her memory, or why she would go so far as to pay a large sum just to keep him alive here.
But there was nothing but sincerity and gratitude in the old director’s eyes. She just couldn’t bring herself to say what she’d really come for. “Sir, I just wanted to stop by today, nothing more. Nothing more. I’ll come by again. Take care of yourself.”
“Alright, you too. Eat more, you look so thin.”
As Amelia left the hospital and returned to her car, she heard footsteps trailing closely behind her.
Today, Nolan had been like a quiet little shadow. He barely spoke a word.
But now, he couldn’t hold it in any longer. “Who is this Elias? Amelia, how many things are you still keeping from me? Were you playing me all along? Pretending to chase me while secretly messing around with other men? First, my uncle, now Elias. You’re such a flirt!”
His tone was full of accusation, and it made Amelia find him absurd. “Nolan, do I need to remind you again? You’re about to get married.
“Whatever was between us, we’ve made it clear that it’s over. You’ll get married and I’ll live my life, and we’ll have nothing more to do with each other.”
Nolan suddenly slammed the car door. “If everything before was just an act, then nothing’s clear between us! I told you, I’m going to keep/digging, and when I find the truth, I’ll settle the score.”
His eyes were bloodshot, like he’d been pushed to the edge.
Back in the day, everyone in the capital knew Amelia was obsessed with him. She chased after him in tears

for years. But now, he was beginning to suspect that the woman he’d always looked down on had long been in someone else’s arms. The thought twisted something in him; he felt a dark urge to burn it all down.
When he saw the disdain on Amelia’s face, it only made his eyes redder. “What I told you in the office, you need to take it seriously. Be careful with Dylan. He’s not as kind and harmless as he looks. He climbed to where he is now over a mountain of corpses.
“And don’t forget, he made it on Wall Street, the most ruthless battlefield of them all. Plenty of people lost everything because of him. Amelia, if you think he’s a good person, it’s all just an act.”
Amelia was stunned. Nolan, Dylan’s own nephew, was slandering him like this?
Of all the things that could be said, since Dylan took over Hale Corporation, the company’s stock had multiplied several times. Even after his car accident, people still saw him as a business genius.
And despite how many times she crossed him, Dylan had never once held it against her. His manners were impeccable.
He had never once spoken badly about anyone behind their back, least of all about Nolan.
So, who gave Nolan the right to say all this?
She stepped on the gas without a second thought. She wasn’t going to listen to this anymore.
Nolan stood frozen in place, feeling like all the blood had drained from his body.
He hated himself. Ever since Amelia lost her memory, he refused to believe it was real, and had done nothing but make her resent him more. Now, she wouldn’t even listen to a single word from him. He had lost before he could even begin.
Meanwhile, that scheming Dylan had been slowly crafting a saintly image, making Amelia trust him. completely.
Damn it!
Nolan burned with frustration. He had to expose Dylan’s true nature.
But his anger quickly wilted as his family had just called and told him that he needed to go try on wedding outfits with Milly.
Her custom–made dress had arrived, flown in overnight on a rush order. The hotel had long been booked. Invitations were already sent out.
The entire capital knew that Nolan was going to marry Milly.
As he watched Amelia’s car disappear into the distance, his expression twisted for a moment.
Since childhood, the one person he’d feared the most was Dylan. He absolutely couldn’t allow Amelia to fall into the hands of the man he despised most.
Amelia wasn’t the same as before, She was dazzling now.
