Nolan turned to leave in a hurry, only to be grabbed by Milly. “You’re going to see my sister, aren’t you?
“Atilly. I really have something urgent. You should head back. And stop pretending you’re weak and frail. You’re not even really pregnant. Your body’s perfectly fine, so why do you always act like some fragile little flower? Can’t you walk properly?
Milly’s face went pale instantly. Her fingers slowly released his shirt.
Nolan pulled away even faster, desperate to catch up to Amelia.
Milly stood frozen in place. She felt that after everything she’d done, she ended up a complete fool.
How did it come to this? What did Amelia have that she didn’t?
She clenched her fists so tightly her nails dug deep into her palms, nearly drawing blood.
Finally, she made a call. “Let’s work together.”
A woman’s voice came from the other end. “I’m not sure what you’re talking about, Ms. Summers.”
Milly’s tone turned instantly furious. “Cut the act! I know what you’re after. I’m offering you a deal to work together. Let’s get rid of Amelia once and for all. As long as she’s alive, I’ll never know peace. And don’t worry, if this works out, everything you want will be yours.”
There was a long silence, as if the woman on the other end was weighing her options.
Milly’s tone grew cold and mocking. “What? Scared? No wonder you’ve spent your whole life crawling around in the dark, jealous of people who get to live in the light. I’m handing you a chance here, and you don’t even know how to grab it. Fine, rot for the rest of your life!”
Milly’s words clearly struck a nerve. The breathing on the other end grew heavy before the woman finally responded. “One step at a time.”
Milly let out a breath and smirked. “Of course, we’ll take it slow. Amelia has become smarter since losing her memory. She’s no longer the clueless idiot she used to be.”
At that moment, Amelia was already on the road, heading toward the old hospital. In her rearview mirror, she noticed a familiar car tailing her.
That license plate looked familiar. It was Nolan.
He just couldn’t leave her alone, could he?
She took a deep breath and floored the accelerator.
Nolan didn’t dare chase her too hard, so he slowed down and followed from a distance.
When Amelia arrived at the hospital, she realized just how run–down the place was. If she had come here at night, it would’ve looked like a haunted house.

Chapter 116 Let’s Work Together

She got out of the car and immediately spotted an old director sweeping the spacious courtyard.
Despite the place being old and rundown, it was spotless. Even the dust on the walls looked like it was cleaned regularly.
She quickened her pace and walked over. She was unable to hold back herself, she asked, “Sir, the ground’s already clean. Why don’t you take a break?”
The old director looked up at her, his white hair gleaming under the sun. He blinked in recognition and asked, “Amelia? What brings you here?”
Amelia was startled. The old director knew her?
“Yes… It’s me.”
He set down his broom and untied his apron. “You haven’t been here in over a year. How have

The man’s life clearly had some charm to it. The interior of the hospital was planted with flowers, and in the center of a courtyard sat a stone table with matching stools.
She followed him and sat down at the stone bench as he offered, “Wait here, I’ll make some tea. Won’t be long.
Amelia stood up quickly. “Let me help you.”
“No need. Just wait here.”
She had no choice but to sit down. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted someone sneaking around. It was Nolan.
Her expression darkened. She didn’t want him ruining things.
Thankfully, he seemed to have some sense. He simply came over to sit down without saying a word for the time being.
Amelia didn’t bother chasing him off. With someone like Nolan, the more resistance you gave him, the more stubborn he became.
The old director soon returned with tea, seemingly unfazed by Nolan’s unexpected presence.
Nolan managed to behave respectfully in front of the elders. “Sorry to intrude. Please, don’t mind me.”
The old director poured Amelia a cup of tea and asked, “You’re here to visit Eli again, aren’t you? He’s still the same. Honestly, if not for the money you’ve sent all these years, he wouldn’t have made it this far.
“Now the hospital’s been marked for government redevelopment. They offered me a huge compensation to move out. But I made a promise to you back then. I’d stay here with Eli, no matter what.”
Amelia wanted to ask, who was Eli?
Who was that?
But if she had asked that, it would instantly give her away.

So she stayed quiet while gripping the warm teacup. Just as she was about to say something, the old director continued, “You have a good heart, Amelia. It’s just a shame Eli wasn’t as lucky. If he ever wakes up… I bet hed grow into someone incredible.”
Nolan was already restless beside her. Eli? Who the hell was that?
Why was there something about Amelia that he was not aware of?
He opened his mouth to speak, but Amelia shot him a look that silenced him on the spot. He had no choice but to sit there, swallowing his questions.
