“Logan, didn’t you notice?”
Logan turned his head in confusion. “Notice what?”
Of the four, Tony was the youngest, and they often cut him some slack. That said, when he’s around outsiders, Tony was all business. He was decisive, authoritative, and not one to be questioned.
It was rare for Tony to emphasize anything with such gravity in the presence of the group.
Logan genuinely had no idea what Dylan Hale was getting at.

Dylan poured himself a drink, his fingers idly tracing the rim of the glass. “Some things, if you’re going to hide them, hide them so well that you even fool yourself. Only then will no one ever find out.”
Tony pressed his lips together and retorted, “I’m not like you.”
Logan looked at Dylan, then Tony, and finally let out a sound of realization. “So the baby of the group’s got a secret crush, huh? Congrats, congrats. Who is it? Don’t tell me it’s Savannah. Weren’t you two sworn enemies?”
He sprang from his seat with a dramatic sweep. He’d been handling the Reed family affairs since he was 17, and the pressure he exuded was tangible. “It’s not her.”
Logan leaned back and narrowed his eyes. “Good thing it’s not her. Otherwise, the Reed family would be the first to object? She’s even a year older than Dylan, probably thinking about settling down.”
Tony suddenly went silent, then slumped back down onto the sofa.
Logan glanced to his left and right, before muttering cheekily, “Must be nice. Someone like me would never fall for a woman. Too much trouble.”
Little did he know that for those who never fall in love, the moment it finally happened was the most daunting of all.
Amelia woke up with a splitting headache, but still forced herself to head to work.
As soon as she sat at her desk, she felt drowsy again. Inevitably, her thoughts drifted to the mark on her inner thigh.
It was way too close to her sensitive spot to just shrug off. Was it really possible for a mosquito to bite there?
Just how strong did the mosquito’s bite have to be to do that?
She had barely finished yawning when someone came over with a stack of documents. “Amelia, this is the latest government partnership project. Sort through it.”
She quickly took a sip of her coffee and got to work.
The project was based in the suburbs. The plan was to build a huge theme park with a romantic fairy tale concept. If all went well, it would become one of the country’s hottest tourist spots.
But there was a problem. An old hospital occupied the site, housing just one patient. The hospital director refused to consent to demolition, insisting on taking full responsibility for the patient.

Amella propped her chin on her hand. Several professional negotiators from Hale Corporation had already visited. They even offered to pay high medical fees to transfer the patient to a top hospital and bring in foreign specialists. Still, the old director wouldn’t budge.
Back and forth it went, and now the urgent project was brought to a standstill.
Amelia did some research online. It was a private facility solely run by the old director, who cared little for money or power. Winning over someone like that would be no sinall feat, but she was resolved to try.
She grabbed the project file and went knocking on Dylan’s office door.
Today, Dylan wore a different colored suit. He was holding a cup of coffee, which he set down upon seeing her. “Did you sleep well last night?”
Amelia’s cheeks flushed bright red instantly. Though she was drunk, she still remembered that wild moment of straddling Dylan’s waist.
She could even recall the expression on Dylan’s face. He was in deep resistance, seemingly repulsed by her touch.
Which meant in some sense, her behavior pretty much counted as sexual harassment.
She had to admit, Dylan’s temper was remarkable. He didn’t even get mad.
He was probably the most emotionally controlled man in the world!
“I slept alright. Mr. Hale, I’m truly sorry about what happened last night. I panicked after hearing what the business partner said and didn’t realize how strong the alcohol was.”
Her face was full of remorse. “To make up for it, I’d like to join the theme park development project. I’ll do everything I can to persuade that old director to relocate. Please give me this opportunity.”
Dylan took a sip of coffee and replied in a calm tone. “Don’t do that again next time.”
Suddenly, Amelia remembered how he’d turned his head away last night and said, “Don’t do this.”
Crap! She really was a beast!
“I’m really sorry, truly. I’ll head over to the hospital right away and do my best to ease your burden, Mr. Hale. Also, I noticed you have dark circles under your eyes. Didn’t sleep well last night? I can act as your sleeping pill again tonight.”
Dylan’s hand paused slightly, tempted by the idea but he was still hesitating.
Amelia quickly raised her han
in an oath.
“I swear I have absolutely no inappropriate intentions toward Mr. Hale. If I do, may heaven…”
Before she could finish her curse, Dylan interrupted her with a flat response.
