Chapter 334
After clinking glasses, Thomas took a sip of wine, his gaze sliding past me to land on Henry, though his words were still directed at me: *Sophia, I heard your divorce was finalized. Congratulations on your single status. He paused, then added more softly, Do you think t have a chance now? I know I disappointed you before, and I’m truly sorry. If you’d give me another opportunity, I promise I would do my hou and never disappoint you again.”
Thomas had noticed Henry’s presence long before approaching Sophia’s table. His obvious provocation was clearly intended to irritate Henry
In the past, when Thomas had merely kissed Sophia once, Henry had not only physically attacked him but nearly destroyed his entire family.
That kind of grudge doesn’t simply disappear.
Previously, faced with such obvious provocation, Henry would have immediately lost his temper. He might have even physically confronted Thomas.
But today… he acted as if he hadn’t heard a word, quietly eating his food with elegant, refined movements.
He casually rolled up one sleeve, exposing his lean wrist–this casual elegance exuded an irresistible charm.
I found myself staring at that wrist, momentarily mesmerized.
Indeed, beautiful people remain beautiful in any circumstance.
Noticing my gaze, Henry deliberately adjusted his sleeve, revealing even more of his wrist.
Only then did he look up at Thomas standing beside me.
“What right does a failure have to make his presence known here?” His voice was cold and precise. “Are you trying to broadcast your inadequacy to the world? A man who couldn’t even protect the woman he claimed to care about–what kind of man is that?”
Henry had clearly researched my history with Thomas.
From his perspective, Thomas barely qualified as part of my past–at most, it was merely a one–sided infatuation that never developed into any relationship.
His words struck directly at Thomas’s vulnerability, instantly wiping the smile from his face.
Henry didn’t want Billy to witness this tension between adults, so he turned to our son with a gentle smile: “Billy, would you mind getting
some ice cream for Dad?”
Once certain Billy was out of earshot, Thomas glared at Henry with undisguised hostility: “Henry, you’re divorced now, you’re just an ex-
husband!”
The tension between the two men was almost palpable.
Thomas had harbored feelings for me for years, and now, finally seeing an opportunity, he discovered Henry and me still together. His jealousy was obvious as he confronted the confident man sitting across from me.
Henry’s expression remained completely unchanged. He simply raised an eyebrow and gave Thomas a cold smile: “Yes, I’m her ex–husband. But you don’t even qualify as an ex–anything. You’ve never held any place in Sophia’s heart. Isn’t that pathetic?”
He turned his full attention to Thomas, his voice dangerously calm: “Mr. Sanders, I heard that on the night Sophia m the rain outside the Harding estate all night. Is that true?”
me, you stood in
After a moment’s hesitation, Thomas nodded: “Yes! The night Sophia married you, I stood in the rain outside the Harding estate all night. By the morning, I had a high fever. That’s all in the past–why bring it up now?”

“I see our Mr. Sanders is quite the strategist,” Henry remarked, his smile not reaching his eyes, ‘quite skilled at playing the philof vers seduce another man’s newlywed wife!”
Though Henry maintained a superficial smile, his eyes conveyed nothing but contempt, which deeply unsettled Thomas.
“Henry, stop with these personal attacks!” Thomas snapped. “Sophia is divorced from you now. Any man has the right to pursue her except
just making it obvious that you can’t let go of Sophia you! If I were you, I’d stay far away rather than continuing to entangle with her. You’re
I could see how much Thomas resented Henry’s natural air of superiority.
Henry carried himself like born royalty, with a commanding presence that made people feel intimidated, unable to look him directly in the
eyes.
Henry had clearly long suspected Thomas’s feelings for me and detested what he saw as Thomas’s pretentiousness, believing he lacked a man’s proper responsibilities.
After hearing Thomas’s outburst, he simply smirk tone was surprisingly calm.
and admitted without hesitation: “I indeed can’t let go of Sophia. Is that a problem?” His
“Which law states that an ex–husband can’t still have feelings for his ex–wife?”
