Chapter 187 Drunk

She leaned too hard on the table, causing it to tilt for a second. She lost her footing and tumbled straight toward Dylan

Dylan reached out to catch her, but she was clutching the tablecloth. To avoid the leftovers on the table spilling on them, he rolled his wheelchair far back while pulling her into his arms

Amelia felt the room spin around her. In the next instant, the wheelchair tipped over. She ended up sitting right on Dylan’s waist

Dylan was dressed in his usual suit, but now two buttons of his shirt had popped loose, revealing his refined collarbone

A cold jolt hit her spine, and suddenly, she snapped out of the alcohol

Just as she tried to scramble up, the door to the private room swung open. Those waiting outside had heard the commotion and came in, worried

The business partners and Nathan appeared at the doorway. All they saw were beautiful, delicate bowls spilled on the floor. Not far off, the wheelchair toppled over with Amelia straddling Dylan like a wild beast

Dylan frowned, showing a look of disdain

The business partners froze, unsure how to react, and only after several seconds did they rush over

Everyone had been drinking, so they weren’t holding back their words

Ms. Summers, this is unacceptable. How could you be so rough?”

Exactly! You just said you wouldn’t slap Mr. Hale. The way you’re acting makes me think you’re about to ride his face next!”

Ms. Summers, a lady should be reserved. If Mr. Hale isn’t okay with it, you can’t force him either.”

Amelia’s cheeks turned beet red, and she bolted upright in a panic. But she was so flustered that she didn’t even realize she was still clutching a piece of his shirt

With a tug, the remaining buttons snapped off with a crisp clatter, scattering across the floor. Dylan frowned again, turning his head aside

After several seconds, he croaked, Don’t do this.”

That one sentence was as if he’d confirmed what everyone was assumingAmelia was shamelessly forcing herself on him

Nathan grabbed Amelia by the back of her collar. The veins bulged at his temples. Clearly, he was at his breaking point

Amelia, and you still claim you don’t have ulterior motives? Shameless, absolutely shameless!”

Even though Nathan disliked her, he rarely spoke this harshly

Amelia was at a total loss for words

She saw Dylan quietly pull his shirt together, as if trying to cover his exposed, muscular chest. Crap, now

she looked even more guilty

No. I just had too much to drink”

The business partners, redfaced from drinking, had never seen Mr. Hale in such a vulnerable state. So, the got bolder in speaking their minds

Don’t use alcohol as an excuse. We men know how this works. Drunk people don’t have that kind of energy What you’re doing is using liquid courage to act on what you normally wouldn’t dare do sober

Amelia felt like she’d been slammed with a massive accusation. As she tried to collect herself, she saw Nathan helping Dylan up, righting the fallen wheelchair too. From the looks of it, Dylan really did seem like the victim here

Amelia pursed her lips together, and before she could stop herself, blurted out, Sowhat now? It’s not like can take responsibility for you, right?”

Dylan’s fingers paused slightly, but he said nothing

The business partners all shook their heads. To be honest, that’s classic scumbag talk.”

Exactly. I’d say the same thing when I want to make a clean break from a girl.”

Amelia broke into a cold sweat. She tried to step forward and explain, but Nathan blocked her path. He stood firmly beside her, clearly worried she’d make another move on Dylan

Amelia looked at Dylan across Nathan’s shoulder

Mr. Hale, I swear I didn’t mean it. After three shots, my mind just went blank.”

Dylan was back in his wheelchair now. He turned away from her and still said nothing

Amelia’s face turned red with anxiety. Then, she saw Nathan had already turned, preparing to wheel Dylan

away

Mr. Hale.”

Dylan finally looked up. He’d straightened his clothes again. His eyes were calm. I know you didn’t mean it.”

Amelia nodded frantically, but for some reason, he looked even more upset

She stood frozen, watching helplessly as Dylan was wheeled away. The business partners followed suit and left too. The once lively room instantly fell into an eerie silence

Amelia collapsed onto a chair as the alcohol hit her again, making her stomach churn

She sat there for ten minutes before/hearing footsteps outside. She thought the staff was coming in to clean up the mess

But suddenly, the lights dimmed. Before she could adjust to the darkness, she felt someone pull her into a tight embrace. Her back slammed against the wall as a man’s dominating presence overwhelmed her

She opened her hazy eyes, trying to see who it was. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t see clearly
