Chapter 131 Family Ties
Amelia sat down on the sofa in the hall after hearing what Celia said. “So this is the reason you’ve come to
see me?”
Celia quickly took a seat across from her. With an adamant attitude, she said, “It’s an emergency
“Since you want me to take the blame for it, does this mean you’ve caught on to the fact that it really was Milly in the recording? Well, the recording wasn’t faked. She got caught wanting to frame me. Now she can’t do anything about it.
“And you’re coming to me for help because you can’t bear to see her being hated on by the public. After all, I’m your eldest daughter. I don’t matter much to you. It’s no big deal if everyone was hating on me.
Celia felt guilty when she heard that. She fell silent for a while before forcing out a reply. “Everyone’s been hating on you for quite a while now. Another incident like this won’t make much difference.”
Amelia picked up a cup of tea someone had left on the table. Then she splashed it right at Celia. Celia’s hair. was soaked. She looked up at Amelia in disbelief.
“Awake now, Mrs. Yoon? I’ve told you. Quit talking to me like you’re superior to me just because you’re older.
“I’ve no obligation to take the blame for anyone, especially for someone like Milly. If you want her to stop suffering from all this, why not let Alexander take the blame? Or can you not bear to do that to your son either?”
Celia’s whole body was trembling, and her lips were quivering. She said, “Amelia, w–why have you become like this?” Celia barely recognized her anymore. She wasn’t the daughter who used to obey her every command.
“Don’t come to me with things like this again. It’s only a waste of my time,” Amelia said as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
Alexander had been looking on the whole time. Only now did he slowly turn to Celia. He asked, “Mom, was it really not faked? Was it really Milly in the recording?”

Celia’s mind was a mess. She stared at Amelia, who was leaving determinedly. She stood up, wanting to chase after her.
But after a few steps, she stopped and muttered to herself, “Where did it all go wrong…”
Alexander pressed on, “Mom, say something! Was Amelia telling the truth? Did you know the recording wasn’t fake? Then why did you come to find her? You’re being too biased!”
As soon as he finished, a hard slap landed on his cheek. “Shut up!” Celia exclaimed.
Alexander held his face, feeling stunned. Besides Amelia, no one had ever hit him before. Celia was also shocked herself. She had a pained expression as she sat down and pressed her hand to her forehead.
“Did you think I wanted this? Alexander, you don’t know what kind of people Milly’s foster parents were. You’ve got no idea what kind of life she’s lived all those years. Everything she suffered from was because of Amelia. How can I treat her as if nothing has happened?”
She rubbed her brow. The scent of tea was still lingering on her clothes.

Chapter 131 Family Ties
“Milly’s foster family was all ruthless people. She grew up abused. The only reason they adopted her was have her marry that retarded son of theirs.
“She started working at the age of 12 and handed over every dollar she earned to them. She still had to take care of her brother every day. When I went to fetch her, she was covered in bruises and didn’t even dare look at me.”
Alexander fell silent as his chest was tight with pain. After a moment, he muttered, “But that doesn’t mean..
“Doesn’t mean what? She was kidnapped because Amelia hid the truth and didn’t call the police on purpose Milly saved her sister. She ended up living a miserable life for years. Shouldn’t Amelia do her best to care for her when she’s finally returned home?
“Instead, she bullied Milly and never once expressed her regret for what happened back then. I’ve witnessed everything. How could I not be biased? I’m furious with Amelia. How can she live with herself?
“Alexander, Milly’s been secretly seeing a therapist for a long time. The doctor specifically said not to let her experience any more trauma. She desperately needs our support…”
Alexander was stunned. His voice suddenly became anxious. “I never knew she was seeing a therapist. When did she start going?”
“The year she joined our family. Because of her personality, she never told anyone, not even your father.”
There was no way anyone wouldn’t feel sorry for someone with such a tragic past. Alexander was still young and easily swayed. After his mother’s words, he began to doubt himself and asked, “So what do we do now, Mom?”
“The best thing would be for Amelia to admit it. Otherwise, Milly’s marriage will be ruined. You can help by talking to her since she doesn’t dislike you as much. She looks at the rest of us like we’re her worst enemies.”
Alexander fell silent for a while before lowering his gaze and saying, “I understand.”
When Amelia returned to the top floor, she happened to run into Carrie. Carrie hadn’t known Amelia was working at Hale Corporation. Her eyes widened in shock, and her voice cracked.
