Nolan took a deep breath. “Milly, I’ll ask you one more time. Are you really pregnant?”
Milly’s heart skipped a beat. Could he have found out the truth?

Impossible, she told herself. Damien hadn’t been at the hospital today, and she’d made sure to keep Nolan by her side the entire time. There was no way he could have investigated.
Forcing a few tears, she looked up at him.
“Nolan, what are you trying to say? Just because Amelia has a few doubts, you’re starting to suspect me too?”
The moment she began to cry, the others immediately rallied to her side.
Celia was the first to help her up, shooting Nolan a look of disapproval.
“Nolan, if you have something to say, just speak. She’s just gone through a miscarriage and is still very fragile.”
Alexander added, “Exactly. Milly’s been throwing up all day. It’s hard to even watch.”
Nolan clenched his phone in a death grip.
Intolerable. Completely intolerable.
Struggling to contain his rage, he drew a sharp breath and barked, “Take a look for yourselves! The recording of Milly and that doctor is all over the trending lists. Do you have any idea how many people are mocking me right now? Calling me a fool who got manipulated by some so–called innocent girl!”
Seething, he turned and stormed off.
It was unlike anything Milly had seen from him; Nolan had never shouted at her before.
Terrified, she scrambled after him, quickly unlocking her phone.
“Nolan, what news? I don’t know anything about it. I really don’t.”
But the moment the recording started playing, Milly froze in shock
Celia and Alexander were just as stunned.
Panic flared in Milly’s eyes as she rushed to protest. “That recording is clearly fake! Someone’s framing me! It has to be Amelia! She’s trying to set me up!”
Celia didn’t hesitate to believe her. The woman in the recording sounded so vicious, her tone cutting cold. It was nothing like the gentle Milly she knew.
Nolan stood there, unmoving, a wave of frustration washing over him as Milly began to cry again.
Once upon a time, a single tear from her would have melted his heart. But now, her crying felt forced and almost theatrical.
How could someone shed so many tears? And why was it that Amelia never wept like this?
As he started to turn away again, Milly hurriedly grabbed his sleeve.

“Nolan, that recording is fake, I swear! With all the technology these days, anyone can fabricate a voice. That’s not me! I swear on everything, if it is, may I be struck by lightning!”
Nolan’s brows drew together, his mind a mess of confusion.
“I need some time at home to sort things out. Look after yourself.”
Milly burst into louder sobs, her eyes red and swollen.
Celia wrapped her in a hug, sighing as she tried to comfort her. “I honestly don’t know who could’ve made that video.”
Milly wiped her tears, choking on her words. “Who else could it be? It has to be Amelia. She’s just trying to get revenge on us by sending her to the psychiatric hospital. Mom, if everyone thinks that person in the video is me, how am I supposed to show my face again?”
Exactly. If their social circle believed it, how could she ever marry into the Hale family?
Celia’s expression tightened with worry. If Amelia was truly responsible, they needed to locate her quickly and have her explain everything face–to–face.
“Don’t worry, Milly. I’ll track down Amelia.”
A wave of panic washed over Milly. With the wedding to Nolan fast approaching, any scandal now would destroy everything she had worked so hard to achieve.
No! She had to locate Amelia and force her to declare that the recording was nothing but a fabricated lie.
Milly was confident. After all, Amelia had always treated her generously, giving her the best of everything. But Milly had always seen it as a way of showing off, so she played the victim at every turn.
And the more kind and patient Amelia was, the more it made others believe she was manipulative.
Milly took a deep breath. She couldn’t afford to keep clashing with Amelia now. She had to calm Amelia down, then figure out a new plan.
Thinking of Timothy, she quickly pulled out her phone and called him, her voice choked with tears as she poured out her woes.
“That’s not my voice at all. I don’t know how this even happened. If no one believes me… does that mean it’s all over for me?”
Timothy, ever loyal, believed her without a second thought. His heart immediately ached for her.
“Milly, don’t worry. If it comes to that, I’ll make Amelia confess by force if I have to and ensure she vanishes afterward.”
Milly’s tearful eyes brightened. “Timothy, I always knew you were the only one who truly cared about me.”
“If Nolan ever abandons you, you’ll always have me to turn to.”
But Milly didn’t take his offer seriously. She was fully aware that Nolan’s status far exceeded Timothy’s.
And in the Hale family, she might even have a shot at meeting the elusive and powerful Dylan. If she played her cards right, maybe Dylan would fall for her.
Meanwhile, after leaving, Nolan couldn’t settle his thoughts.
Somehow, he found himself outside the psychiatric hospital where Amelia was admitted. Yet, in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to step inside.
