Chapter 230
“B–Boss, take it easy.” Even Brent was freaked out.
He thought, Did Boss just get scared out of his mind? Come on, stay calm. What if something happens to Sharon? I’ve never seen Ross lose it like this
before.
Nicholas‘ knuckles were white around his weapon. His eyes were icy, but his voice was gentle as he looked at Sharon. “Don’t be afraid. Wait for me, and keep yourself safe.”
Sharon’s hand curled up slowly, and she couldn’t bring herself to meet his eyes, After all, this was all just an act, and she lied to him.
With the bandage still over her mouth, she couldn’t say a word; all she could do was look at him.
If she really wanted to break out now, it wouldn’t be hard. But then Daniel would definitely blab.
She still had her teammates here, so she couldn’t risk blowin
cover.
Sharon muttered inwardly, ‘Sorry, Nicholas. Thank you.‘
Sharon stayed silent and let Daniel take her away.
There were just over a dozen people left in the warehouse, and they all started retreating toward the back.
Nicholas kept his weapon in hand, watching as Sharon disappeared from view. For the first time in his life, he felt a wave of anxiety. This mission had gone completely off the rails, nothing like what he’d expected.
Brent spoke up, “Boss, what now? Should we follow them?”
“Wait half an hour.” Nicholas didn’t dare take any risks. He set his weapon down and said, “Have the devices tail them. Make sure it doesn’t get spotted.”
Brent replied, “It’s already taken care of.”
Seeing Nicholas‘ cold expression, Brent couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. “Boss, the fact that Sharon suddenly showed up here must have something to do with that mastermind. No one expected Daniel to be involved. Otherwise, with her skills, there’s no way she’d get caught.”
Daniel used to run with that infamous crew from back in the day. Guys like them were never the younger generation’s responsibility to handle.
But no one expected Sharon would get mixed up with them this time.
Nicholas grunted in response. He’d already guessed that his fiancée probably got wind of something and came to investigate. After all, she was on good terms with the boss behind the Hunter Forum.
Too bad Daniel and that boss never got along; rumor had it that there had always been infighting between them.
Nicholas wondered, ‘No idea if she was getting dragged into the mess.’
Margaret hurried over. “We just searched the area. There are a lot of bodies, and the way they were killed was ranking martial artists, some even on the wanted list. But there’s no sign of Solar Flare anywhere.”
Nicholas narrowed his eyes. “Clean up the scene. The rest of you, come with me.”
He thought, ‘It must be Sharon who did this.
especially brutal. All of them are high-
‘The way she killed the lizard before is almost identical to what happened here I can tell it’s her without even thinking twice.” Margaret watched Nicholas walk away, then glanced back at the gruesome scene, frowning. She felt like something just didn’t sit right.
Chapter 230
She guessed most likely, Sharon was the one who did a.
But according to the Intel they got, Solar Flare was supposed to be here too. Margaret thought, ‘Did Solar Flare find out about the ambush ahead and just never show up?
This whole thing feels way inore complicated than it looks. And Sharon showing up here out of nowhere is pretty suspicious ton
Brent followed Nicholas out of the warehouse. “Bloss, they’re heading north. There’s a clearing by the cliffs. Maybe Daniel’s chopper is waiting there
Nicholas ordered, “Go after them. Turn on level one defense now. We have to keep her safe, no matter what.”
Thinking about the looks in his fiancée’s eyes just now, Nicholas grew more and more frustrated.
He cursed inwardly, ‘Damn it! If only I hadn’t rushed in headfirst. If I took a moment to observe, maybe I would’ve realized she was inside too.
‘Then I could’ve pulled off a quiet rescue. At least I wouldn’t be stuck in this situation now.‘
On the other side, at the cliffside clearing, Daniel led Sharon and the others there as fast as they could go. A helicopter was waiting on the open ground- clearly their escape plan.
“We’re finally safe.” Daniel let out a breath, then suddenly pulled out a knife and pressed it to Sharon’s throat. “Don’t move, or I’ll slit your throat.”
“Stop,” Cameron shouted.
“Let her go,” Jannie demanded.
Daniel’s eyes glinted with amusement. “She’s in my hands now. Don’t try anything stupid.”
“So you’re turning on us?” Sharon stayed perfectly calm, not flustered at all.
Daniel said, “Yeah, isn’t it obvious? As long as you’re alive, you’re a threat. Once you’re gone, the forum is all mine.”
“Tch, you are unbelievably naive,” Sharon scoffed. A cold, murderous look flashed in her eyes.
