Chapter 215
After returning to her room, Sharon stretched out on the couch and closed her eyes fully register how sore her body was.
for a brief rest. Only now that the adrenaline had won oll did she
‘Guess i haven’t fought that hard in a while. My muscles feel like they’ve turned to stone.
Joan quietly reminded her, “Ms. Vance, you should rest.”
It had been an overwhelming day. If Sharon hadn’t stepped up and held the line, there was no way they all would’ve made it back alive. Her explosive strength in the swamp left a lasting impression on everyone.
While other noble families often treated their guards as disposable, Sharon had fought at the front–risked her life to save them, side by side.
Joan had never experienced that kind of leadership. In most families, protectors were expected to die first without complaint. But Sharon had done the opposite.
‘From now on, I need to get stronger. I can’t drag her down again, or let her be the one saving me all the time.
Joan’s face gradually hardened with determination, already lost in her mental training arc.
Sharon, unaware of the silent vow beside her, was growing angrier the longer she thought about what had happened.
10 them. I don’t care how deep you have to dig. I want names.]
She pulled out her phone and messaged her team. Shron: [Find
Cameron: [Got it. We’re on it.]
Riley: [if I had to bet, this smells like a setup by one of those rival families.]
Jannie: [What are you going to do if you find them?]
Sharon’s reply was cold and direct. Sharon: [Ruin them.]
Jannie: [What about the others?]
Sharon: [Let them live in fear. Killing’s too easy. Real punishment is knowing they can’t sleep at night because they know I’m watching.]
Cameron: [Oof. Shari’s officially pissed.]
‘Whoever’s behind this, RIP.‘
News of what happened to the Vance family spread quickly. Before the day was over, most of the upper–class families had heard about the incident.
Because of the chaos, property values near Silver Hollow Reserve plummeted overnight.
Rumors flew. People only knew “some wild animal attack” had occurred, and that it had resulted in casualties.
It wasn’t long ago that the area had been one of the most sought–after retirement spots thanks to its scenic landscape ai
in air.
Now? Prospective buyers were running for the hills. ‘Nice place… until something in the woods eats your dog and drags your nephew into a swamp.
Real estate developers were completely blindsided.
They scrambled for information but kept hitting walls.
Official sources repeated the same vague line, “Yes, wild animals were involved.”

No one could find out anything more specific.
Some curious locals even tried sneaking into the forest to investigate, but were stopped by police and security forces. The area had been seated on safety whatever had caused the attack still hadn’t been caught.
Online, the story blew up. Silver Hollow Reserve Wild Animal Attack! Area Closed for investigation!
…
Hearing that the mountain was still under lockdown, buyers bailed and staff quit en masse.
‘No job’s worth dying for.
Back in the swamp, Nicholas and his team had set up camp for the night. It was obvious they wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon.
A specialized signal tower had finally been activated, restoring communication despite the magnetic disruption.
Once the setup was complete and his orders had been handed down, Nicholas finally sat down to rest. His phone lit up with missed calls and messages- most of them from his mother, Wendy.
Wendy: [You brat! I heard there was an incident with the Vance branch today. Is Shari okay? Did she get hurt?]
Wendy: [You better be protecting her with your life. Don’t let anything happen to her.]
Wendy: [Call me back the moment you see this.]
Nicholas checked the time. She should’ve been asleep hours ago.
Rather than call, he replied with a text. Nicholas: [She’s fine. Don’t worry.]
Wendy: [Good. That’s all I needed to hear.]
Nicholas raised a brow. “She’s still awake?”
His phone rang almost immediately after. It wasn’t Wendy this time–it was Arnold. Arnold’s voice came through, tight with concern. “What’s really going on in the swamp?”

“We’ve uncovered a large number of unidentified creatures,” Nicholas said. “A lot of them. Looks like someone’s been keeping them here. We’re still investigating.”
Arnold was quiet for a moment and then asked, “I heard the Vance branch took heavy losses. Should we send someone from the family to help guard them?”
It was clear the situation wasn’t simple.
“No need. Sharon already posted a massive bounty on the Hunter Forum. Hired an entire team of martial artists to protect them.”
Another pause. “With all the Baxter family resources behind you, she’s the one who has to hire black–market guards? What exactly are you doing to impress this girl–just standing around looking pretty?”
Nicholas exhaled through his nose.
‘So now even Dad’s roasting me.‘
