Chapter 214
Sharon and the others finally returned home.
The family doctor was already waiting. As soon as she saw Richard, she called out, “Richard.”
“I’m fine,” he replied. “It’s just a minor injury. You should eat something and get some rest. You’ve had the roughest day.”
“I’m not tired.”
Sharon was stubborn. She stayed with her brothers in the living room, refusing to move until Richard’s procedure was finished.
Only when the operation started did everyone begin to relax..
Marvin collapsed onto the sofa with a groan. “Today nearly scared the life out of me. Damn it, if I ever find out who’s behind this, I swear they won’t walk away whole.”
‘Pretty sure I used up a lifetime’s worth of luck just surviving today!’
Sharon glanced over at him. Honestly, she’d always assumed Marvin was just a rich playboy. But today, he and Richard had been the two most capable fighters of the group.
She’d never guess it from how they usually acted.
After what they’d all been through, she felt something had shifted. The bond between her and her brothers falt… tighter somehow.
Aaron suddenly asked, “Shari, are you into computers too?”
Sharon paused, knowing this question was bound to come sooner or later. She answered openly, “A little. I just dabble. Nowhere near your level.”
“Not true. You’re actually pretty good. We should swap notes sometime.”
“Sure,” she smiled, feeling a bit sheepish.
‘Mental note–be extra careful. The last thing I need is someone connecting the dots to my other lives.‘
An hour later, Richard’s operation ended.
He walked out with his arm bandaged and secured in a cast.
He frowned. “Why are you all still standing around? Go eat already.”
Sharon finally exhaled, the tension easing from her shoulders.
After dinner, Richard turned to her. “Shari, I heard you posted a bounty on the Hunter Forum for bodyguards?”
“I did. The House of Obsidian probably won’t stick around long, and once they leave, no one will be here to protect the again.”
“You think ahead,” Richard said, nodding in approval.
By the time he’d started considering security, she’d already solved the problem.
He gave her a look full of quiet pride. “You’re starting to act more and more like a proper family head.”

Sharon hesitated. “Richard, do we need high–ranking martial artists too? I mean, if whoever did this was really targeting us, I’m worried they might go

after you next.”
“No need. We’ve got people on us at all times. This was just an accident–none of us had our usual teams with us, which is why things got so they
His expression darkened.
There was no way they were letting this slide.
If they didn’t respond hard, it would only invite more trouble.
Sharon finally relaxed. That was a relief.
Richard waved a hand. “Alright, that’s enough for tonight. Everyone get some rest.”
Sharon stayed put, glancing around at her brothers. She looked like she wanted to say something, but hesitated.
Marvin leaned forward. “Shari, you want to say something? Just spit it out. No need to tiptoe around with us.”
A flicker of uncertainty passed through her eyes.
She bit her lip. “Back at the swamp, I didn’t have any weapons. So I fought with my bare hands. It probably looked… weird. Do you guys think I’m… strange?”
Like some wild monster, she’d thrown herself into the fight, tearing through Velvyn hand to claw.
Her brothers exchanged glances. Richard stood up, walked over, and gently patted her head. “We don’t think it’s weird at all. If anything, it just proves how strong you are.”
“Exactly,” Marvin chimed in with a grin. “I’ll even find you a good pair of gloves–something sleek and badass!”
“You’re always going to be our little sister,” Wallace added warmly. “That’s never going to change.”
‘And if her strength came from bloodline… that
wasn’t her fault.
But it wasn’t the right time to tell her that.
Sharon finally let go of the tension she’d been holding in. “Okay then,” she said brightly, flashing them a sweet smile.
“Goodnight!” She turned and headed upstairs, looking completely at peace.
Down in the living room, Richard folded his arms and stared at his brothers.
“Feeling a little humiliated, huh?” he said coolly. “Start training. I’m serious. We can’t keep relying on Shari to carry us every time we’re in danger. You guys don’t feel the slightest bit embarrassed?”
Marvin coughed into his hand and covered his face. ‘Okay, maybe just a little.‘
Marcus and Jeffrey–absolute zeroes in combat–nodded in solemn agreement.
