Chapter 206
The situation was spiraling fast.
Sharon clenched her jaw. She didn’t have a proper weapon, and her outfit was all wron
‘Should’ve worn pants.
Glancing at Elise, she spotted a long blade on the ground–Merrick’s, most likely.
She walked straight over. “Mind if I borrow this?”
“Wait!”
skirt, leather shoes,
Merrick grabbed her wrist. “Our blood–it wakes them. Whatever happens, don’t get hurt. Don’t let it hit the water.”
“I know. But at this point, we don’t have a choice. Let’s just hope backup shows up soon.”
Without another word, Sharon yanked the blade free and charged forward.
One Velvyn had already crept up behind Elise, drawn by the scent of her blood.
Sharon’s blade drove straight through its skull. Thick, green–black blood oozed out. She pulled the blade back, lips twitching into a cold smirk. “Nice
blade.”
Her movements were wild and brutal, stripped of excess. Every swing landed hard and clean–like she was chopping vegetables, not monsters.
In a ladylike dress and ballet flats, Sharon looked every inch the soft, well–mannered girl–until she moved.
Now, she was ice–cold, ruthless. Her soft, round face twisted in deadly focus.
She was a completely different person.
And somehow, her savage precision snapped everyone else out of their fear. They gritted their teeth and jumped in.
“Split into two teams. Rotate and rest!” Richard shouted.
It was a battle of endurance, and no one knew how long until reinforcements arrived. Elise’s blood had spilled across the swamp, and now more and more Velvyn were waking up.
The corpses piled higher and higher, forming a grotesque hill beneath them–while the surviving Velvyn feasted on their fallen, growing more savage by the second.
Sharon had lost herself in the fight. Her eyes were bloodshot, her blade never stopped moving.
“Shari, break time,” Marvin said, rushing over and physically lifting her off the battlefield. “You need a minute. Get patched up.”
Sharon was still radiating pure adrenaline. Her fingers clenched the hilt, her entire body taut and trembling, ready to strike.
But when she saw Marvin’s face, her shoulders relaxed slightly. “I’m fine.”
“You can’t just throw yourself in like that. Fight smarter,” Marvin said, gently ruffling her hair.
‘That’s our sister. Fierce as hell.‘
Marcus knelt beside her, disinfecting her wounds with the last of their supplies. “This is gonna sting. Bear with it.”
Under normal circumstances, he would’ve never used raw antiseptic like this. But right now, they had no choice.

Chapter 206
Sharon barely flinched. “It’s fine.”
The second the words left her mouth, she tried to stand again, but Marcus caught her by the arm. “You don’t have to push yourself so hard
Sharon forced a smile. “I’m good. Don’t worry. I’m tougher than i look.”
Out of the eight brothers, Marcus and Jeffrey weren’t fighters.
This level of injury? It was nothing for her.
Marcus still looked like he wanted to protest, guilt written all over his face. He clearly blamed himself for not being strong enough.
Jeffrey pulled him aside. “Marcus, help me. I’ve got a tranquilizer gun. I want to make something.”
As a virologist, Jeffrey had a plan–an ultra–potent sedative to slow the Velvyn down.
“You have your strengths,” Marvin added. “No need to feel guilty.”
And he was right. Sharon was strong–stronger than even Richard.
Everyone had seen it now.
If she hadn’t charged in when she did, they would’ve been overwhelmed already.
Sharon, still holding the long blade dripping green blood, darted back into formation. She landed beside Richard, slicing down a Velvyn with one clean
stroke.”
Stay close to me,” Richard said, smiling. “No more running off.”
“Got it,” she replied, only to dash off again a second later. A breach had opened in the other line.
She cleared it in one leap, cutting down the creature and sealing the gap.
She and Richard moved like a two–person unit, maintaining a wide arc between them–creating a curved defense line around the others.
But Sharon’s gaze kept drifting back down the hill. ‘Why the hell isn’t help here yet?‘
Everyone was nearly out of energy. And without stamina, their ability to fight would plummet.
Which meant injuries. Which meant more blood. Which meant more Velvyn waking up.
And no one knew how many were still lying dormant beneath the swamp.
This was the first time Sharon had seen Velvyn in numbers this large.
‘What are these things?‘
“Richard!”
Sharon’s head snapped around. One of their people had tripped. Richard threw himself forward to shield them—and got bitten in the arm.
Marvin reacted fast, pulling him back just in time/Any slower and that arm would’ve been gone.
With Richard wounded, their side began to falter. The Velvyn surged.
Sharon’s voice rang out, sharp and commanding. “Switch sides!”
She darted to Richard’s position, trading places with him and taking over the defense.
Chapter 206
Her hands were numb. Her muscles screamed. But she kept going. Her blade dulled from overtise.
She didn’t care. She tossed it to Elise and charged straight into the enemy–barehanded.
She grabbed one Velvyn by the jaw, yanked it open, and ripped it in half.
Green–black blood sprayed across her body. Her pale face was streaked with gore. Everyone stood frozen.
She wasn’t human anymore. She looked like a monster herself–small, elegant… and completely unhinged.
Sometimes she stomped down on one, snapping its spine underfoot.
Other times she gripped its jaws and pulled until it split apart like paper.
Wherever Sharon went, she left nothing but shredded Velvyn in her
wake.
Richard watched in awe. “Two of you–stay on her. Cover her blind spots.”
As long as Sharon didn’t get hurt… they might actually survive this.
