Chapter 67 You’re Not My Child!
Amelia shivered slightly. She then asked Nemi a few more questions about Sophia.
Ever since Nemi returned from Sienna Valley, she’d been singing Amelia’s praises to everyone she met. But most people just laughed at her. No one had taken her seriously.
Now that she finally had the chance to help Amelia, she was more than willing.
“Sophia Carter? Of course, I know her. She’s got a boyfriend now, but she also has a son. I don’t think the boyfriend knows about the son. His family’s pretty well–off. He’s even picked her up from work before.
As for Sophia’s son, Nemi had only found out by chance while shopping one day.
The boy was only nine, but already up to
no good. He’d been caught stealing at the mall, and the store called the police to give him a talking–to. Later, he even groped a girl and got slapped on the spot.
A nine–year–old acting like that? He was practically a delinquent. Chances were, his father was just as bad.
Amelia raised an eyebrow, a faint smile tugging at
her lips.-
She had a pretty good idea of how to deal with Sophia now.
That evening, Sophia had arranged to meet her boyfriend at a restaurant. Though she always boasted about being independent, deep down she relied on men and longed for a family. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been sweet–talked into having a child at 19, and now she was too scared to let anyone know.
She’d been dating this man for six months. She planned to keep her secret until they got married. After she got pregnant, only then would she confess about the child.
Every time she went out on a date, she’d make her son wait in the restaurant next door. She was thoroughly fed up with him–her only contact with the boy was handing him money. If murder weren’t a crime, she’d have gotten rid of him long ago and wouldn’t be stuck with this burden.
Their relationship was strained, but the boy seemed to have inherited his father’s twisted nature. He’d been nothing but trouble since day one and only behaved for whoever gave him money.
So, in a way, they got along.
The boy was sitting in the neighboring restaurant when a woman sat down beside him. His first instinct was to throw the cup of hot water on the table at her face.
Not for any particular reason–he just enjoyed seeing people in pain.
He was just about to act when the woman said calmly, “Your mom is hiding you from her boyfriend. Once she marries him and has another baby, she’ll send you away.”
The boy shot to his feet. “You bitch!/What are you talking about?”
He recalled the insults his mother hurled at other women and started to mimic her. “You whore! Watch it or I’ll kill you!”
Amelia smiled at him. “Don’t believe me? Go ask her yourself.”
The boy immediately stood up, grabbed a cup of hot water, and ran next door.

His mother had always promised that once she tricked this man, they’d be a real family. She said she d never have another child–he’d be her only one.
“Mom!” He shouted, flinging the hot water straight at the man’s head.
“Are you really going to get rid of me after you marry him?”
Sophia looked flawless as always, but a visible panic flashed in her eyes.
The man, drenched in water, shot to his feet in fury. “Whose kid is this? Why is he calling you ‘Mom‘
But the boy was used to making a scene. He clung to Sophia, refusing to let go.
“Mom, say something! Are you really going to abandon me? I’ll kill you both!“;
Sophia panicked, trying to yank him off.
“Let go of me! I’m not your mom!”
Just then, the man’s phone buzzed with a message. The instant he read it, his face darkened. With no warning, he slapped Sophia hard across the face.
“So this is what you’ve been hiding, huh? Sophia Carter! You tried to trick me into raising your kid? Dream on!”
Sophia had spent half a year coaxing this man. His family had tens of millions–he was the best catch she’d ever found.
“Let me explain-”
But the boy kept clinging to her, calling her “Mom” over and over.
Everyone in the restaurant was staring at them. Humiliated, the man left.
Sophia chased after him. “He’s not mine–I swear he’s not my child!”
“Mom, so you really were planning to get rid of me. Good thing I came prepared.”
The boy pulled out several photos of the two of them together.
Sophia’s face turned ashen. Furious, she slapped him across the face.
“Are you trying to ruin me?”
Crying and slapping sounds rang out as chaos erupted in the restaurant. Diners began pulling out their phones to record.
Seeing the cameras, the boy sat on the floor and wailed, while Sophia kept slapping him in a blind rage.
She was completely out of control/The wedding date had nearly been set, and now his son had ruined everything.
She should’ve gotten rid of him back then–killed him, abandoned him, anything.
Damn it!

Why did she ever sleep with that man? It was the biggest mistake of her life.
She kept hitting him over and over again, until his cheeks were swollen, red with bruises. It wasn’t until the sound of people gossiping around her reached her ears that she finally came back to her senses.
