Chapter 59 Milly Is a Clown
James and the other official were whispering, so Milly couldn’t hear them. However, more than ten government officials had gathered around to chat with her. At that moment, the attention had gone straight to her head.
Suddenly, someone asked, “Oh, right. Where’s the banner?”
Didn’t the fruit farmers say they had prepared a banner?
Finally, one of the staff looked toward Amelia, who was standing in the crowd. At that moment, she was holding the banner.
The staff had assumed that Amelia was a fruit farmer’s daughter and that she was about to deliver the banner. But judging from her demeanor, she didn’t resemble a fruit farmer’s daughter but a young lady from a wealthy family.
The staff reached out to accept the banner from Amelia before shoving it into Milly’s hands.
“There you go, Ms. Summers. The fruit farmers prepared this banner specially for you. Let’s wait for Mr. Hale so you two can take a photo together.”
Milly smirked slightly. She was feeling slightly giddy from the crowd’s admiration and didn’t notice that something was wrong.
Feeling proúd, James also patted Milly on the shoulder. “Once you’re back at Solandis, I’m sure that the elders of the Hale family will take the initiative to end Nolan and Amelia’s engagement. You did a great job this time.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
Upon noticing the banner Milly was holding, the surrounding reporters started snapping photos while complimenting her beauty.
It was the first time these fruit farmers encountered something like that. After coming to their senses, several students hurried forward to snatch the banner away.
“Who are you? Why did you take our banner? We prepared this for Amelia!”
“How ironic! It was really shameless of you to take the banner. Who do you think you are? How dare you steal Amelia’s credit?”
The people of Greenvale were honest folk. Nothing irritated them more than seeing someone trying to take credit for others‘ work.
All the government officials were stunned for a moment before turning to look at Milly. “Aren’t you Amelia Summers?”
Milly’s smile froze. Next to her, James hurriedly explained, “What do you mean by Amelia Summers? It was Milly who helped the fruit farmers. Amelia only makes things worse. You must’ve written down the wrong
name.”
After hearing James‘ explanation, the fruit farmers were instantly infuriated.
“Such nonsense! We’ve seen how hard Ms. Amelia works! We didn’t get the name wrong. You just wanted to take credit for her work, right?”

After snatching the banner away, the farmers shoved it toward Amelia. The crowd stood around her protectively and glared warily at James and Milly..
One of the government officials, who knew James well, quickly whispered, “James, did two of your daughters participate in helping the fruit farmers?”
James felt uneasy. He was certain that these fruit farmers had gotten the names wrong, “Yeah.”
“But the one we invited was Amelia, and the banner is also meant for her. As for Milly, I think I heard about how she was the one who messed things up in Sienna Valley.”
James brought Milly over in a hurry so they could be interviewed. Now, he was being told that the daughter receiving all the praise was Amelia, the child he looked down on the most.
James looked extremely pale as he gazed at Amelia, who was surrounded by the crowd. However, she didn’t even look at him. It was as if she didn’t even know him.
The reporters also realized that they had been snapping photos of the wrong person, so they hurried over to Amelia.
Amelia answered several questions with a smile. Later, the government officials started surrounding her so they could take a group photo.
Just then, they heard the sound of a wheelchair approaching. Dylan had arrived, and he was surrounded by another group of people.
Since the reporters knew the protocol, they quickly put their cameras away.
The people on both sides shook hands and started discussing the development of Greenvale. They also talked about the confidential project which had been approved by the government. The entire project had been assigned to Hale Corporation.
Someone said with a sigh, “Ms. Amelia did a really good job this time. Over the years, many have dropped by Greenvale, but none have won over everyone like she did. Mr. Hale, you have a fantastic employee.”
Initially, the bidding for the confidential project was meant to be a joint effort between several companies. However, it only took Amelia one week to make a difference to Greenvale.
Impressed with Amelia’s efforts, the higher–ups decided to assign the entire project to Hale Corporation. A crowd had gathered around Amelia to celebrate on her behalf. However, none dared to bother Dylan.
While taking photos for Amelia and the officials, the fruit farmers took a few steps back. In the process, they even accidentally stepped on Milly’s expensive shoes.
Milly’s cheeks were flushed with anger. She never felt so humiliated in her life. To make things worse, the fruit farmers were rather rude to her
“Can’t you move aside? You’re in our way. We’re trying to take photos of Amelia.”
Milly was so furious that her breaths became labored. She glared venomously at Amelia, who was surrounded by the crowd.
Dylan stood next to Amelia. Thanks to his extremely cold, aloof demeanor, no one dared to stand in front of him. Everyone chose to stay behind him.

As for Milly, her hands were clenched tightly at her side. She felt like she was about to choke from anger.
Milly had once sworn to take all of Amelia’s happiness away from her. But now, everyone was praising the latter. It made Milly seem nothing more than a clown.
James stood next to Milly, and he was still putting on airs. He was waiting for Amelia to approach and speak to him.
But the photo session was almost up. The reporters were about to leave. Amelia didn’t seem like she was about to greet James.
James was about to lose his composure. Then, someone next to him gave him a nudge.
