Chapter 244
One man even walked over to Alexander’s cat, opened the door, and invited Sophia to step out. Come on, get into your husband’s car. I’ll have a word with him afterward and make sure he doesn’t argue with you when you get home.”
After attempting to persuade Sophia, he turned to Henry: “Brother, life is stressful these days, and marital relationships can falter at any moment. Don’t he too hard on your wife when you get home!”
The police arrived quickly and asked both Sophia and Henry to step out of their vehicles.
Sophia hadn’t anticipated causing such a scene, much less involving law enforcement. Under the officer’s mediation, she reluctantly faced Henry.
The officer led them to the sidewalk and asked, “What’s your relationship to each other?”
“We’re married,‘ Henry stated immediately.
“We have no relationship, Sophia countered.
“What is your actual relationship?” the officer pressed.
“She’s my wife,” Henry repeated.
‘I don’t know this man,” Sophia insisted.
“If you don’t tell me the truth, I’ll take you both to the detention center for questioning!” the officer warned. “Now, what is your relationship?”
Henry replied with calm confidence, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly:
We’re married.”
Sophia was too angry to speak. After fuming silently, she finally explained: “We’re a married couple who has already submitted divorce papers.”
Henry turned to look at her, his smile mischievous and slightly dangerous. “When did you submit them? Can they be found in the system?”
Sophia refused to engage further. After clarifying their relationship, the officer classified the incident as a domestic dispute: “This is a family matter. Please resolve it at home and don’t disrupt public order!”
Henry immediately seized Sophia’s hand, apologizing politely to the officer: “You’re absolutely right, officer. This is my fault.
“I shouldn’t have upset my wife. I’ll take her home and make things right.”
“I’m sorry for causing trouble. I’ll have lunch delivered to your station tomorrow as an apology. Here’s my card–my assistant will bring food for everyone.”
“I sincerely apologize for disrupting everyone with our marital problems.” He distributed cash to all the drivers he had inconvenienced. “I’m truly sorry, everyone. Please forgive me.”
Henry’s apology seemed genuine, his manner polished and sincere. The drivers, impressed by his distinguished demeanor and apparent remorse, decided not to press the issue.
They watched silently as Henry led Sophia to his car and drove away.
Alexander stood beside his car, one hand in his pocket, observing the entire scene with a cold, detached gaze, not uttering a single word.
It was clear that Henry cared deeply for Sophia. But… Sophia no longer cared for Henry. Even if Henry forcibly took her away, meaningful con between them seemed impossible.

The winter wind rushed through the car window, dispersing the warmth inside. Sophia sat in the back seat of Henry’s car, struggling persistently against his grip. Her wrist had already turned red from his hold, making her wince in pain, but she stubbornly continued fighting.
“Let me go, you bastard!” she spat. “What kind of man bullies a woman like this?”

Instead, he tightened his grip on her wrist, seemingly afraid the might escape. Completely unmoved by her insulte
“Am I a real man or not? I think you know the answer better than anyone.”
“When I was making you moan in bed, you used to call me darling husband, didn’t you?
The driver in the front seat, hearing this explosive comment, hurriedly raised the partition separating them, desperate to avoid overhearing anything inappropriate.
This was certainly not something a chauffeur should be privy to!
