Chapter 241
What does it mean when a man and a woman have dinner together?
It means neither finds the other objectionable.
Why was Alexander in Manhattan?
Henay knew the answer all too well.
On one hand, the Reynolds family wanted to expand their business and channels in Manhattan. The billion–dollar contract they were signing with the Harding family clearly demonstrated the Reynolds‘ ambition. They wanted to secure their position in Manhattan’s business circles, to establish a foothold.
On the other hand, it was William’s arrangement.
William had always believed that Henry and Sophia’s marriage wouldn’t last long. The way his grandson treated Sophia- what woman wouldn’t feel disheartened?
When a woman becomes completely disappointed in you, there’s no way to change her mind again.
So, Henry and Sophia’s divorce was just a matter of time.
William didn’t have much time left, so while he was still alive, he needed to quickly arrange a Plan B for Sophia.
After examining many potential suitors, only Alexander met William’s standards.
Therefore…
William wholeheartedly approved of Sophia and Alexander being together.
In his view, only someone exceptional like Alexander was worthy of Sophia. Even though Sophia had been married before and had a child, she was still the best, and deserved the best.
Realizing that his grandfather had sanctioned Sophia and Alexander’s interactions, Henry’s lips turned downward, his brow furrowing deeply.
It seemed necessary to have a serious conversation with the old man.
After sitting in silence for some time, Henry exited his car and headed toward the hospital wing.
By now, Henry had reached William’s hospital room, his mood darkening with each step.
William was exercising his grip when Henry entered. The old man barely acknowledged his grandson, continuing his repetitive movements. Each squeeze of the hand exerciser made a tremendous noise.
These harsh sounds reflected his dissatisfaction with his grandson.
Mark stood nearby, supervising William’s exercise routine. “Young Master,” he greeted Henry with a polite smile. “Mr. Harding is doing his prescribed exercises. The doctor recommends thirty minutes daily, nothing too strenuous.”
It was obvious that William wasn’t particularly pleased to see Henry. If anything, his expression suggested he might prefer his grandson leave.
Mark quickly spoke up, trying to ease the tense relationship between grandfather and grandson.
Henry acknowledged Mark’s good intentions with a nod. “I need to speak with my grandfather alone. Mark, could you get me a cup of coffee?”
Mark immediately understood; the young master wanted privacy. He quietly excused himself.
With Mark gone, Henry positioned himself directly in William’s line of sight.

Chapter 241
“What’s your purpose in bringing Alexander to Manhattan? Henty dentanded, his voice tight with barely controlled anger. “When ezatily art and in accomplish?
William set down his hand exerciser, taking several deep breaths before finally meeting Henry’s gaze. “I want Sophia to be with Alexander, he stated man of–factly.
He’s more responsible than you, more committed. Most importantly, he’s genuinely interested in her. I want them together”
Sophia is still my wife,” Henry said through clenched teeth. We aren’t divorced yet.”
“You’ve made it clear that you don’t love her,” William countered. “You’ve repeatedly said she’s the person you despise most. Why not let her go?
William knew his time was limited. Despite strictly following medical advice, his condition was worsening. He had given up smoking and sugar, falling every instruction his doctors provided.
Now the only joy in his life came from visits by Sophia and Billy.
All his efforts to extend his life–the exercise, the bland diet–had just one goal: to protect Sophia a little longer in his final days.
He wanted to see her settled with a man who deserved her before his time ran out.
“Alexander is about your age, William continued. “He’s responsible, dignified, disciplined He doesn’t chase women or create scandals. His only flaw might be that he’s a workaholic, but he’s perfect for Sophia.”
William’s voice softened slightly. “Sophia is reserved by nature. Even when your mother and sister mistreated her, she never complained to you. Not once in all these years.”
He picked up the hand exerciser again, squeezing it rhythmically. “But Alexander? He notices when her mood drops before she says a word. He adjusts the atmosphere, cheers her up without being asked. Sometimes he even detects her emotions earlier than I do.”
With each word, Henry’s expression darkened further.
“He’s young, handsome, wealthy, doesn’t care about her past, shows genuine interest in her, and provides emotional support,” William counted Alexander’s qualities on his fingers. “What woman wouldn’t be drawn to such a man? I sincerely believe Sophia and Alexander are better suited for each other.”
Each of William’s words felt like needles piercing Henry’s heart.
As for his grandson’s feelings? William hadn’t considered them at all.
Henry’s face contorted with anger. “What gives you the right?” he demanded, his voice rising. “Sophia is still legally my wife! As long as I don’t agree to divorce, she remains my wife. How dare you push her toward another man?”
The thought of Sophia laughing and talking with Alexander made Henry’s chest tighten painfully.
He couldn’t bear the idea of Sophia with any other man–it was absolutely unacceptable!
William waited patiently for Henry’s outburst to end. When his grandson finally fell silent, the old man spoke calmly.
‘Is divorce really that difficult?” he asked, his voice steady. “You should know, Sophia has evidence of your intimate relationship with Isabella. If she files for divorce, the court will naturally grant it.”
William was absolutely right.
According to current legal provisions, if one party commits serious misconduct during the marriage, divorce can be granted by court decision if either party files for divorce, without requiring consent from both spouses.
This meant that if Sophia could provide sufficient evidence of Henry’s affair with tsabella, their marriage would be impossible to maintain.
Previously, Henry had never paid attention to these matters.
Chapter 241
Now, hearing William mention it, he felt as if someone had doused him with ice water from head to toe, chilling him to the bone.
That so–called evidence is all fabricated!” he roared. ‘I was framed by Isabella!”
Seeing his grandson’s reaction, the old man secretly rejoiced.
What a scoundrel!
Finally feeling the pressure, aren’t you?
When a woman loves you, you’re her treasure, but when she stops loving you, you’re worth less than garbage!
How could his grandson be so shrewd in business yet such a fool in matters of the heart?
William revealed a meaningful smile and said: “Whether you were framed or not, I don’t know. But I do know that judges believe in evidence–photographs, recordings, videos–not your empty words.”
