Chapter 52 Cold and Distant
Amelia made up her mind to stay for a few days as soon as she heard about a hot spring
She dragged her tired body to the hot spring hotel that everyone had talked about. She found out later de an important guest had come that evening, so it had been cleaned and set aside for them.
Amelia thought she’d missed her chance to enjoy the hot spring, but when she turned around, she spotted Dylan.
Several well–dressed managers followed behind him.
Her eyes lit up. “Mr. Hale?”
Dylan saw the mud on her pants and how dirty and messy Amelia looked.
Amelia quickly wiped the dirt from her cheek. “Mr. Hale, what brings you to Greenvale?”
“Inspection,” he replied coolly, with Nathan pushing his wheelchair behind him.
Amelia hurried to catch up. “Did you book the hot spring hotel? Is it okay if a few of us stay here too?
Nemi, who was always a bit intimidated by their boss, had been hiding at the back. Hearing Amelia speak so boldly, she was a little surprised by her courage.
“As you wish,” Dylan replied.
Amelia let out a sigh of relief. She was really tired and couldn’t go any farther. She just wanted to soak in the hot spring and get some sleep.
She hadn’t rested in days.
The other managers didn’t want to bother Dylan, so they quickly made up excuses to leave. Nathan also left.
Amelia quickly stood behind the wheelchair and gently gripped the handles as she began to push. She could only see Dylan’s hair from where she was standing.
Dylan was wearing a black suit. “Tired?” He asked.
Amelia didn’t think he would ask. She yawned. “A little. I haven’t had a break in days. However, there are no apples left here. Does that mean I’ve finished the Agricultural Aid project?”
He nodded. “Tonight, you’ll have dinner with the managers. They praised you.”
Amelia had not gotten anyone’s approval since she woke up. People didn’t seem to like her.
She stopped in her tracks when she heard Dylan say. Suddenly, all her tiredness was gone and her eyes turned red with emotion.
“Really?”
“You did very well.” Dylan turned to look at her expression, his brows knitting together.
Amelia forced a smile. “When I was in Sienna Valley, I thought that as long as I worked hard, I’d be rewarded. But it seemed like no one liked me there. Sometimes I wonder if I was born with some kind of curse that makes people dislike me.”

“That’s their problem, Dylan replied, lifs gaze sweeping over her messy hair, which she probably be time to wash or shower in days.
Only then did Amelia realize how unkept she looked. She quickly tried to tidy her hair
“I haven’t had time to wash my hair. I must look like a mess. I’ll go take a bath and wash up right away
She wasn’t sure if she was imagining it, but did Dylan just sinile?
When she looked again, all traces of emotion had vanished from his eyes. It must have been her imagination.
He always looked so cold, but she couldn’t help but wonder if he was in a wheelchair because of her. Why hadn’t he taken revenge?
She had heard that people who crossed Dylan never had a good end. But now wasn’t the right time to ask. Their relationship wasn’t there yet.
With the staff’s help, she went to her room.
After her shower, she received a message from Nemi.
“Amelia, I have good news! The apples in Sienna Valley are in a lot of trouble. A lot of people on the internet are saying they got bad apples!”
It was just as she expected. Milly had only wanted short–term results.
This would hurt Sienna Valley’s reputation, but Amelia wasn’t perfect. She could only say that those people got what they deserved.
But she was just too tired. She had a fever and her whole body hurt. She couldn’t even respond to a message.
When she woke up, it was already the next day, but her fever hadn’t gone down at all. She felt completely wiped out.
The good news is that all the apples were sold. Amelia cleaned up, opened her door, and went outside to look for food.
In the dining room, she discovered Dylan was there too, his table covered with food.
Amelia’s stomach was growling. After asking a staff member, she learned she’d slept through both breakfast and lunch. Now, the only option was to shamelessly request to join Dylan’s private meal.
“Mr. Hale.”
Dylan seemed to know what she wanted before she even said anything. He lightly tapped the table with his finger.
“Sit.”
Amelia smiled at him and let out a sigh of relief. “Then I won’t say no.”
She was hungry and had no idea how weak she looked at that time. Her lips were pale, and she had lost a few kilos all over her body.
A big hand suddenly landed on her forehead as she finished her last sip of soup, making her freeze.

Finished
It was Dylan’s hand. Even his finger felt cold and distant. He pulled his hand back right away and said, “You have a fever.”
