Chapter 189
Sharon raised an eyebrow in amusement. “So, which role are you playing, Pat?”
“Shadow,” Patrick replied. “The female lead plays Deer.”
Sharon nearly choked. “How can you be sure about their genders? What if they were both men?”
“Junglers are usually male,” Marvin chimed in with a shrug. But whatever, it didn’t matter.
Sharon sighed. She thought, ‘Well, forget it. Just let this misunderstanding continue then.’
The three of them entered the team’s training area.
In the office, Miles was lecturing Jose, who had caused trouble last night. “Where were you this afternoon? You know the rules. No drinking during training hours.”
Jose shrugged. “I had a bad day yesterday. I needed a drink.”
“That’s not the worst part. Why did you bring your fan girl here? That’s against the rules, too.”
“She’s my girlfriend now. Shouldn’t that count for something?”
Miles rubbed his temples. “Do you know who your ex–girlfriend is connected to?”
“What’s there to know? Just some office worker from a family that got lucky with demolition payout.”
Miles bit his tongue, resisting the urge to reveal what he had just known. “Regardless, you’ve caused damage to the team’s reputation. Apologize immediately and try to fix this.”
He thought, ‘Maybe there’s still time to salvage things. Otherwise, we’re all screwed.‘
Jose scoffed, “Miles, this is personal. I’ll handle it my way.” He didn’t think he needed to apologize.
Just then, the manager knocked. “Miles, come out. The boss is here.”
Miles was stunned, thinking, ‘Mr. Marvin Vance was just gaming with us an hour ago. He’s here now. Is he coming to settle the score?‘
After a pause, Miles grabbed Jose’s arm. “Come with me.” Somebody had to take the fall, and it might as well be the guy who started it all.
The main hall was decked out with high–end gaming setups, such as top–tier PCs and ergonomic chairs.
Sharon tested a mouse, nodding approvingly at the smooth glide.
When Miles emerged with his team members, Sharon’s gaze immediately locked onto him, tall and cool in the team’s black uniform.
Miles noticed Sharon at a glance. He was tempted by her cute look, but last night’s humiliation suddenly flashed through his mind. He thought, Tet don’t be fooled by her innocent face. She is the demon who completely dominated pros, crushing us at the base.’
“Boss.” Miles greeted Marvin.
Marvin nodded, then turned to Sharon. “These are the guys we just gamed with, though their skills need work.”
Sharon remained silent and scanned these guys, trying to find that scumbag.

Chapter 189
“By the way, I heard you lost a match last night against casual players during your livestream?” Marvin had come to settle this matter to
The atmosphere Instantly froze. Marvin’s expression darkened, “Manager, explain this?
The manager hesitated. “Boss, Shadow showed up. You know how strong he is.”
“Shadow is strong, but were his teammates? Their mage didn’t even leave the tower range before you crumbled. Where’s your dignity? I poured mone into this team just to feed you idiots?” Gone was Marvin’s usual carefree demeanor. Now, his every word dripped icy authority.
Sharon blinked. She thought in surprise, ‘Huh. Mav looks like a real boss now. Maybe he is not just a spoiled rich man.
Still sweating, the manager explained, “We didn’t expect Shadow to appear. It was our mistake.”
“So, what exactly caused the match to happen? I heard it was over some cheating scandal?” Marvin frowned.
Jose was shoved forward. He stammered, “I… Boss, it won’t happen again.”
“Exactly!” A girl with an overdone face suddenly spoke. “They tricked us. In a fair match, no amateurs could beat pros. Blame me instead.”
The girl stared at Marvin and thought, ‘So this is NovaCore’s owner? He’s so handsome.‘
Marvin scoffed. “Fine. Let’s drop it for now. But don’t let this-”
Jose exhaled in relief.
Suddenly, Sharon’s voice cut through. She locked eyes with Jose. “You’re that scumbag?”
Jose’s face darkened, but he stayed silent.
The girl snapped, “How dare you—”
“Shut up!” Marvin roared. “You have no right to speak.”
The girl flinched, not daring to make a sound.
Sharon stepped forward until she stood before Jose. “You betrayed Jannie, right?”
Jose denied it. “We… mutually broke up. She wasn’t my type.”
“True. Scumbags and good girls do belong in different worlds.” With that, Sharon slapped Jose hard.
The slap echoed through the silent hall. Everyone stood frozen in shock.
