Chapter 46 Gaining Trust
Amelia raised her hand to rub her temples. Were she and Nolan ever close?
She couldn’t remember anything after she lost her memory. But every time she saw Nolan’s face or the Summers family, the pain in her heart meant she must’ve cared a lot at one point. But now, none of these people could hurt her again.
Nemi quickly closed her mouth when she saw that Amelia had stopped talking. Two hours later, their ear came to a stop at the entrance to Greenvale.
The fruit farmers were still working on their orchards even though it was late. Some high school students who were on break were helping out by streaming the sales live.
Most of the farmers were over 30 and were unfamiliar with the livestreaming business, so a small number of young people were trying to figure it out.
However, the young people were unaware of what happens after selling something on the platforms, which made it easier for others to leave them with nothing.
Amelia saw the tents set up around them and realized that they had been streaming for many hours, but had no viewers in the live.
The students who were streaming immediately looked wary when they saw Amelia approaching them. “It’s you?”
Amelia’s live stream has been on the “For You” page of the platform for the last few days. Everyone who used the app to stream knew who she was.
Besides, Sienna Valley and Greenvale were on opposite sides of the same country, but the relationship between the fruit farmers was not good.
When a streamer from Sienna Valley showed up, the students immediately thought Amelia was there to mock them.
They were young, so they didn’t immediately chase her away with brooms, but their words were far from nice. “Why are you here? Leave!”
It was nighttime, but she could see the apples hanging from the trees with the orchard lights illuminating the hillside.
Many trees were affected by the heavy rain last night. These apples would fall to the ground in a few days and lose their freshness.
Sienna Valley had someone leading the Agricultural Aid project, but Greenvale had nothing of the sort.
Amelia asked one of the students, “How many unsold apples do you have?”
The student got mad and jumped up from his stool. “What are you trying to imply? Did you drive for more than two hours just to make us look bad? You people from Sienna Valley have no shame!
“Back then, we agreed to make Sienna Valley apples famous first, then sell them together. But once Sienna Valley apples got popular, you turned your back on us and even smeared us online!”
Amelia knew the two groups didn’t get along, but she didn’t know that their hatred for each other ran so deep.
Chapter 46 Gaining Trust
She was about to say something when older fruit farmers heard that someone had come from Sienna Valley and rushed over with their farming tools.
There were only three people on Amelia’s side. Nemi and the driver, frightened, shielded Amelia in the middle.
But when Amelia saw a rake swinging toward Nemi, she instinctively pulled Nemi behind her. The rake hit her back, and she grunted in pain. More and more people came, all of them angry.
“People from Sienna Valley should fuck off from our orchards! We’d rather let our apples rot on the ground than accept your so–called kindness!” Someone shouted, their voice full of emotion.
The fight between the two sides had been going on for years. Sienna Valley apples had become famous, which generated a significant amount of money for the area. The government officials didn’t care that Sienna Valley left Greenvale out on purpose since they only care about the results.
Greenvale had always been in a bad spot, and people even made fun of them online for trying to ride on Sienna Valley’s fame.
Amelia’s face turned pale from the pain. A middle–aged man was about to swing the rake at her again, but a few young people stopped him. “Sir, stop! If you keep going, someone’s going to get seriously hurt!”
Amelia was beautiful, looking out of place amongst the crowd. Her face was pale, but she remained calm and unyielding.
“I’m here to help you sell your apples. I’ve heard about the feud between Sienna Valley and Greenvale, and I understand how you feel. Please, give me three days. If I can’t sell 40 thousand kg in three days, you are pleased to do whatever you want to me.”
Over the years, many businesses have wanted to buy Greenvale’s fertile land. However, Sienna Valley’s fame was so great that these companies wanted to change the name of Greenvale apples to Sienna Valley apples, enraging the fruit farmers.
People in Greenvale had been through many hard times for a long time. They could still carry their apples to nearby cities, even if they were forgotten.
They might not get rich, but they earn enough to get by with hard work. But this year’s sudden storms had caught everyone off guard.
Amelia didn’t make a big deal out of it even though she was hurt. The fruit farmers around her looked at each other, and a few young people spoke up.
