Chapter 43 You Don’t Deserve Respect
Dylan’s phone rang as Amelia turned to go. Nolan’s name appeared on the screen.
How unfortunate.
Amelia scowled. Why was Nolan calling Dylan?
Dylan put the phone on speaker after picking it up. From the other end came Nolan’s voice. “What room is Amelia staying in, Dylan? I need to speak with her about something, and I just got to Sienna Valley.”
Dylan glanced at Amelia.
Amelia’s face flashed with irritation. If Nolan was searching for her, it was either to make her apologize to Milly or to force her to deliver the bag worth 40 thousand to Sharon.
In any case, it was never anything good.
Dylan’s tone was calm. “What do you want with her?”
“It’s everything she’s done wrong. Some viewers are attacking Milly because she said those things during the livestream. Milly has been in tears. Since Amelia is older, I want her to apologize to Milly.”
Amelia thought back to what she’d said in the livestream. She recalled mentioning that those two had slept together. Well, it’s not like she lied.
Her distaste for Nolan reached a peak at once, and any residual resentment disappeared, leaving only irritation.
“Dylan, Amelia only joined Hale Corporation to chase after me. Now she’s stirring up all this drama just to get my attention. But no matter what she does, she shouldn’t joke about Milly’s reputation. There were so many people watching the live stream, if…”
Dylan hung up on him before he could say anything more. There was silence in the room. At last, that annoying voice was gone.
Amelia took a deep breath. “Mr. Hale, I’ll be going now. Nemi is still waiting for me outside.”
“Alright.”
Amelia saw Nemi waiting nearby as soon as she opened the door. Although Nemi appeared taken aback, she lacked the energy to engage in gossip at this moment.
“Amelia, a lot of people are asking when we’ll ship their orders. That wretch, Milly said in her livestream, that we’re scamming customers and won’t deliver. Now, everyone who placed an order is up in arms.”
Amelia forced herself to ignore the pain in her knee and walked out slowly. “It’s fine. Come with me to Greenvale now.”
They walked for over ten minutes/before arriving at the lobby, where Amelia saw Milly.
This guesthouse was divided into an east and west wing, separated by a 120–inch wide street.
Milly was waiting in the east wing, across from Amelia, who was staying in the west wing.
Milly was extremely well–dressed, and the bag she was holding was valued at 200,000 dollars.
Chapter 43 You Don’t Deserve Respect
She was surrounded by a number of the company’s tech leads, all of whom gave her respectful and admiring looks.
Most of these tech leads were around 35 years old, and the slightly younger ones all seemed to have a thin for Milly.
When Milly saw Amelia, she grinned and said, “Amelia, you’re staying here too?”
The tech leads identified Amelia. The two sisters, after all, had engaged in a livestream battle. Their expressions were now filled with contempt.
“Ms. Amelia, still have time to play around? Have those 4000–dollar orders been shipped yet?”
“That’s right, some people never accomplish anything, unlike Ms. Milly. She’s already completed several billion–dollar projects on her own at such a young age.”
“If it weren’t for this live stream, I wouldn’t even know she was the Summers family’s eldest daughter.”
They all burst out laughing.
Milly quickly tried to stop them. “Alright, that’s enough. You’re all employees of the company, and Amelia is technically your superior.”
Someone immediately asked, “Does she even own any shares in the company?”
Milly paused for a few seconds before replying carefully, “Mom and Dad will give her some eventually.”
“How is she our superior, then?” Once more, the laughter began.
Milly tried to console Amelia by looking at her. “They’re all tech leads, Amelia. They simply express what they think. Don’t take it personally.”
The core members of any organization are the tech leads. They are the driving force behind everything, but they stay out of power struggles. Gaining their favor will significantly strengthen your position at the
top.
Right now, Milly had won them over. Even for this small agricultural project, they were willing to follow her here.
And these weren’t the only tech leads in the company. It was clear that Milly’s influence was strong.
Amelia couldn’t be bothered to waste time on this. She lifted her foot to leave, but the tech leads weren’t having it.
They were used to being respected in the company. How could “seless” Ms. Amelia ignore them? Wasn’t she worried they’d make things difficult for her in the future?
“Ms. Amelia, what’s that supposed to mean? You think you’re better than us?”
ke you
“And what if I do? A bunch of grown men gossiping about a woman to her face. Does tha impressive? You’re so used to being flattered at work, you probably don’t even know your worth anymore. Amelia paused, impatience flashing in her eyes.
“None of you piques my interest. I see you as a group of middle–aged men who are greasy and complacent. Why should I show you respect?”
