Chapter 171
Chapter 171
Jannie kept complaining in the group that, convinced her spot was being threatened. Sharon had a new admirer outside their intle circle.
Sharon smiled as she scrolled through the messages, holding the warm hot chocolate in her hands.
Across the field, during Nicholas‘ training break, he glanced up at the rest area. There she was, sitting on the chair, obediently clutching the cup ned given her.
She stared down at her phone screen, a faint smile playing on her lips–her smooth forehead and delicate nose, both perfectly framed. Nicholas gaze intensified at the sight.
His subtle glances didn’t escape notice. Nicholas, normally so laser–focused, was clearly distracted, stealing frequent looks toward the rest area.
Margaret’s expression soured when she saw this
Caesar shot Brent a look. “Nick’s actually serious about this?” he blurted out.
“Does it look like he’s messing around?” Brent said.
Caesar raised an eyebrow. Definitely not.
They’d never seen Nick give a girl this kind of attention. This was the real deal.
“Who’d have thought Nick goes for this type–cute, delicate, looks like she’d collapse if you sneezed near her,” Caesar said.
Brent’s eyes sharpened. “Looks can be misleading. You really think Sharon’s that frail?” he asked, pointedly reminding Caesar of Sharon’s recent exploits.
She’d decked several people with one punch. Now no one dared hassle her directly, not even the lesser Vance branches. Her unique status meant she wouldn’t get expelled for fighting, but others couldn’t say the same.
Even with connections, the lesser Vance branches didn’t dare risk it. No one wanted to blow their opportunity here.
Plus, after Nicholas‘ princess carry the other day, it was obvious he was head over heels for Sharon. Why provoke someone with such powerful protectors?
Caesar rubbed his temples. Sharon’s behavior was the complete opposite of her soft, cute look–total polar opposites.
She seemed sweet and easy to push around, but those who’d tried messing with her ended up in a cast.
Caesar shook his head. “So Nick’s into the ‘tough girl‘ type, huh?” Sharon was not his cup of tea. He had a hunch that there was more to Sharon than what met the eye, some hidden secret.
Plus, the academy’s stance toward her was suspiciously accommodating. With Dalton always vouching for her, he’d briefly wondered if she was Dalton’s illegitimate daughter until he remembered she had eight brothers.
There was definitely something fishy about her.
He’d used his family’s connections to dig into her past but found zilch. Her history was too clean, too perfect. Who just happened to carry 100 thousand Hunter Coins like it was nothing? She was not a regular Joe. That was for sure.
Brent thought about the books Nicholas had borrowed from the library and smirked. With Sharon having eight overprotective brothe was into the whole “challenge” vibe.
His life had been too smooth, and now he’d chosen the hardest mode for a girlfriend. ‘Props to him,‘ Brent thought.

Chapter 171
Sharon stayed in the rest area, where the girls around her didn’t dare whisper. She killed time chatting with her crow in the group che
Cameron: [Shari, ever since we let slip you’re in the House of Obsidian, the number of tails on us has dropped majorly Did you notice anything of th Do you think the academy’s doing a secret probe?]
What? Sharon paused to consider, ‘Things seem normal for now. She’d have to ask Justin later how his investigation was going
Her eyes landed on Nicholas, and she recalled the nickname Justin had told her about. Typing in the group chat, she wrote: [You guys should try to de up how many people in the House of Obsidian have used the nickname “Niko.“]
Cameron: [You got a lead?]
Sharon: [Just a feeling.]
Nicholas went by the nickname Niko, but since he was a big deal at the academy–with tons of admirers–lots of people used the same name
Maybe that Niko actually knew Nicholas. At the last Race of Champions, he’d shown up, saying he was there to watch a friend’s match.
She had a bold thought. Maybe the friend Nicholas was there to see was Niko. If that was the case, things would be simple. She could just ask Nicholas
about it.
Sharon shared her theory, and the group started discussing.
Jannie: [Shari, what if they’re after you too? If you ask directly, won’t that blow your cover?]
Sharon was stunned. Jannie had a point.
