When Noah’s grandmother mentioned how pretty he looked as a child, often mistaken for a girl with many little boys flocking around him, I couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

“Noah, seems like you were quite popular as a child.”

Noah’s face turned bright red. He angrily covered my mouth to stop me from laughing while begging his grandmother to stop telling those stories.

His grandmother obliged with satisfaction and invited us to stay for lunch.

After lunch, Noah and I planned to go back to my place to pick up some of my daily necessities.

However, as soon as I walked through the door, a man suddenly rushed toward us.

It was Howard. His face was bruised, his lip injured, looking completely disheveled.

When he saw me appear with Noah, a flash of pain crossed his face.

“Ellie, Stephanie and I were only fake–married. I’ve kicked her out of my house. Come back home with me, please?”

I calmly shook my head and replied, “Howard, don’t you understand? What we had ended long ago.”

Howard still couldn’t believe what I was saying.

“But you used to like me so much, you chased after me for so long. We’ve been together for seven Christmases! How can you not come home with me?”

I responded with extreme impatience, “You know that was in the past. From the moment you abandoned me at our wedding for Stephanie, we were done.”

Howard still wouldn’t give up and continued, “Ellie, I know I was wrong! Divorce him, will you? Marry me!”

I sneered, “Why should I? Noah unconditionally transferred his shares to me on our wedding day. He treats me with such sincerity–how could I betray him?” 

That’s right. During our intimate time last night, Noah had held my hand as I pressed my fingerprint on the share transfer document.

Noah lazily wrapped his arm around my shoulder and said, “Did you hear that, Mr. Fitzgerald? If you harass my wife again, you’ll face the consequences.”

With that, we were about to enter the house when Howard hysterically shouted behind us, “Ellie! You fell in love with me first, so how dare you abandon me?” 

I didn’t look back and walked straight inside with Noah.

Indeed, I had feelings for him first, but his actions had long since made me utterly weary of him.

Stephanie, claiming their marriage was just pretend and that he never loved her.

While Noah was working in his office, I attended a party as his wife. At that moment, a small hand grabbed mine.

“Mom, come back, please?”

I looked down to see Xavier.

His eyes were filled with tears, his lips tightly pressed together.

I remained calm.

I felt nothing inside. “Mr. Xavier Fitzgerald, you’ve mistaken me for someone else. I’m Noah’s wife now.” 

From the day he chose Stephanie as his mother, I considered myself to have once raised an ungrateful child.

Xavier suddenly burst into tears, extending his bruised arms.

“Stephanie pinches me every day, and Dad doesn’t care. It hurts a lot.”

I glanced at his arms and saw that the purple marks were indeed pinch wounds.

Just then, Stephanie entered the venue behind me. Hearing Xavier’s words, she rushed over, shouting, “Xavier! You’re so young and already learning to lie? These are clearly injuries from falling!”
