Chapter 140
Nicholas quickly explained, “It was student council business just now. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
Sharon snapped back to reality and hung up the phone. She stood up with a blank expression. “It’s nothing. It’s time for me to head back to the dorm She had other matters to deal with.
“I’ll walk you,” Nicholas offered. He followed behind her, noticing her sour mood and suddenly feeling helpless.
Nicholas texted Brent: [What do I do when my girlfriend’s angry? How do I make it up to her? Need advice ASAP.
Brent quickly replied: [ When you’re dating, cheering up a girl usually means gifts or shopping. But Nick, if you’ve managed to upset someone as sweet as your girlfriend, that’s definitely on you.]
Nicholas put away his phone with an unreadable expression and walked beside her in silence.
As they approached House of Ivory, people quickly spotted Nicholas. Some girls gasped quietly and pulled out their phones to take pictures.
This was the heartthrob from House of Obsidian, someone they’d normally never see around House of Ivory.
Nicholas was completely focused on figuring out how to make things right with his girlfriend, totally ignoring everyone around him. To him, these onlookers might as well have been wallpaper–just background decoration, nothing more.
Sharon reached the entrance of her dormitory and turned to face him. “Well, I’m here.”
“Yeah. Call me if you need anything,” Nicholas replied.
Still, Nicholas knew that with eight protective brothers surrounding Sharon, there probably wasn’t much she’d ever need from him.
The only important task Nicholas had at the academy was somehow convincing Sharon to visit House of Obsidian.
Nicholas watched as Sharon walked upstairs, his feelings growing increasingly complicated. ‘What am I going to do?‘ he thought.
After Sharon left, a bold young woman quickly approached him. She was young and pretty. “N–Nicholas, I’ve heard about you for such a long time. I-”
Before she could finish, Nicholas looked down at her with bottomless eyes. He was strikingly handsome with sharp, distinguished features. No matter where he stood, his tall, straight posture made him impossible to ignore.
But now, Nicholas‘ warm expression disappeared, replaced with icy coldness. His stare was enough to make anyone back away fast.
The girl who had been blushing moments ago now froze in shock. ‘How did sweet Nicholas turn so scary so quickly?‘ she thought.
Nicholas hadn’t planned to say anything. But remembering Sharon’s angry face, he frowned and spoke up, “I have a fiancée. Stay away from me.”
After he dropped that bombshell, the girl burst into tears. She had only wanted to chat with him, never expecting Nicholas to misunderstand her intentions so badly. ‘What’s so special about that Sharon anyway?‘ she thought.
Some people went over to comfort her, while other girls just watched with cold eyes. ‘What an idiot,’ one thought. ‘These small–family newcomers really don’t know anything.’
Most new students had been warned by their families not to mess with Sharon.
But there were always some who couldn’t help themselves, insisting on learning the hard way.
Sharon knew nothing about any of this as she headed upstairs without looking back. She needed to figure out a way to uncover Niko’s true identity. Otherwise, her people would always be under threat.
Sharon couldn’t tolerate this kind of situation. She walked up to the sixth floor with a blank expression and noticed her dorm door was open with some

commotion in the hallway.
Sharon paused at the doorway and glanced toward the end of the hall. A crowd had gathered around Elise, who stood surrounded by several Vand family brats.
Sharon only took a quick look before walking straight into her room. If the Vance family expected these kinds of problems.

Back in her dorm, Sharon spotted a box of snacks on her desk. “Who left this?” she asked flatly.
“It’s from Elise. She made them herself,” one of her roommates replied.
Another girl in the dorm gathered her courage and spoke up, “Uh, Sharon, there’s a problem with the hot water pipes tonight. We probably won’t have hot water. Elise filled two bottles of hot water for you.”
Sharon looked down and noticed the new thermos by her feet. She tried one of the cookies. ‘Not bad. Damn, I hate people meddling in my business, she thought. ‘But I can’t just ignore a favor.‘
Sharon popped another cookie in her mouth and turned to leave the room, moving silently toward the end of the hallway.
There, a blonde woman was looking down her nose at Elise. “Just because you’ve got a new family head doesn’t mean she can protect you all. Look at yourselves–nothing but a bunch of little nobodies.”
“Just get out already, you little brats! Leave now, or we won’t be so nice about it,” another woman snapped.
Elise gritted her teeth. “Why should we be the ones to leave? The academy assigned us this dorm.”
“When I tell you to get lost, you get lost. What’s so hard to understand?”
“Who exactly are you telling to get lost?” Sharon stood at the back of the crowd, one hand resting casually in front of her, her eyes narrowed dangerously.
