Chapter 139
Chapter 139
Nicholas swallowed hard. “Let’s go,” he said, his voice husky.
Even the most upstanding men have thoughts they couldn’t control when they met a girl who made their heart race. Of course, these thoughts emained just that, thoughts Nicholas quickly pushed aside.
Before they could leave, the door swung open. Margaret stood in the doorway. “Mr. Baxter, there’s an urgent matter that needs your attention.”
The pleasant atmosphere between Sharon and Nicholas came to a brief halt. Nicholas turned his head. “It can wait.”
“Mr. Baxter, it’s really important. I’m sure Sharon will understand.” Margaret glanced at Sharon again. She looked just like the sweet, adorable girl she remembered. Nothing seemed to have changed. But Margaret had researched the rumors, and Sharon wasn’t as simple as she appeared,
“It’s fine, I can head back on my own,” Sharon said graciously.
“Just give me a few minutes. I’ll be right back.” Nicholas stood up and left the room, gently closing the door behind him. He lowered his voice. “Nest fire,
knock on the door first.”
Margaret froze, surprised that his first words to her were about this. She’d always entered without knocking before, and Nicholas had never objected. So now he’s upset just because Sharon’s in there?‘ she thought.
A complicated look flashed in Margaret’s eyes, and she momentarily forgot why she’d come to find him. Her heart suddenly stirred with turmoil.
“What is it?” Nicholas asked.
Margaret snapped back to reality. “Our people spotted Solar Flare operatives in Atlantis Hotel, but we couldn’t get any useful information. The hotel might be connected to them–probably helping to cover their tracks.”
Nicholas‘ brows furrowed deeply. “Are you sure?”
“Positive. I wouldn’t mistake Cameron’s photo. Should we raid the hotel now?”
Nicholas narrowed his eyes slightly, not answering right away.
Meanwhile, in Sharon’s room, her phone rang. She answered it quickly. “What’s up?”
“Shari, Niko’s men are tracking us. They almost caught us, but the hotel staff helped cover for us,” Cameron said.
“Why would they be tracking you? What have you guys been doing lately?” Sharon asked.
“Nothing much. We just felt something was off. Our instincts saved the three of us.”
Sharon’s eyes flashed with anger. ‘That bastard survived last time, and now he’s targeting my people again. I just can’t get rid of him,‘ she thought. She really wanted to confront him again and teach him a lesson.
Jannie suddenly spoke up, “I know why this happened. Cameron didn’t disguise himself this time. I think they recognized him.”
Sharon gritted her teeth. “You three went out using your

“David and I didn’t,” Jannie replied, “but Cameron was
“Shari, let me explain-” Cameron quickly said.
“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Sharon’s voice turned cold. “We still don’t know who we’re dealing with. Do you want what happened five years ago to repeat itself?”

“I’m sorry, Shari. I messed up,” Cameron admitted.
Sharon took a deep breath. “Lay low for now and don’t go out. Just avoid attention. Once I finish my training this month, we’ll arrange a meeting w them and find a way to eliminate this threat.”
Sharon wouldn’t feel safe until Niko was out of the picture.
Cameron said, “But Shari, we’re not completely in the dark. We’ve picked up some intel. Niko’s group seems to have connections to Oriston Academy. specifically the House of Obsidian.”
“The House of Obsidian again,” Sharon muttered. Her curiosity about that place was growing stronger by the day. ‘What kind of place is it really?‘ she thought.
Sharon had looked at the campus map and couldn’t spot any differences. The layout seemed similar to the House of Ivory.
‘So that jerk is connected to the House of Obsidian. That explains everything. No wonder we couldn’t track him down. He might even be a member of the House of Obsidian,‘ Sharon thought.
It was perfect anyway. Sharon would be going to the House of Obsidian soon. ‘If I catch him there, he’s going to regret it,’ she thought.
“What’s wrong? Who made you angry?” Nicholas pushed open the door and immediately noticed Sharon’s tense expression, her eyes flashing with rage.
A flicker of guilt crossed his face. ‘Is she mad at me?‘ Nicholas thought.
