Chapter 122
Nicholas didn’t even look up as he simply replied, “No.”
Arnold huffed, “Your fiancée is the high and mighty head of the family, and you’re just a nobody. Doesn’t that bruise your pride as a mant
Nicholas replied, “If a man is threatened by a capable wife and afraid that she might outshine him, then he doesn’t deserve her in the first place.
He spoke with smug pride, his expression sharp with sarcasm and attitude. The guy was seriously full of himself and just begging to get hit.
Arnold felt his teeth grinding as he thought, ‘Man, this kid really is here to make my life harder. Nothing gets through to him, and the older he gets, the
slicker he becomes.
“I really thought I could trick him intostepping up as head of the family. That way, I could kick back, call it early retirement, and maybe even go for baby number two. But nope. This boy didn’t let me down.”
Meanwhile, Susan had left a while ago. She couldn’t stand being in that place a second longer. Just the sight of anyone from the Vance family pissed her
off.
The only reason she voted in favor was the hundred thousand Hunter Coins. Sharon had hurt her son, and she wasn’t about to just let that go.
News of Sharon being appointed as the head of the Vance family spread quickly. Everyone was curious about this sudden appearance of the Vance family’s heiress.
One of them wondered, ‘Wasn’t she supposed to be some country bumpkin? How did she suddenly get so full of herself and now she’s even the head of the Vance family? That’s insane.”
Everyone knew how difficult Roxanne was. She’d run the Vance family into the ground, and no one had been able to do anything about it.
But a few people had already caught wind of the truth–that Sharon wasn’t ordinary. She’d inherited her father Thomas‘ bloodline, and with it, a
remarkable talent.
The older generation began to sigh, feeling like the twenty years of peace might finally be coming to an end.
At one of the villas where the Vance family’s side branches lived, the lights blazed through the night. Every representative from the once–sidelined Vance branches had gathered.
One man asked, “Say something, Mr. Vance. What are we supposed to do now? They just went and picked a new head of the family on their own.”
Walter Vance, his hair already gray, stared into the distance, deep in thought. He replied, “We hold our position for now. Let’s see what those eight Vance brothers plan to do.”
Someone else scoffed, “This is child’s play. Since when does a girl get to be the head of the family? That has never happened before.”
One of the girls, dressed in red and clearly someone with a fiery temper, snapped back immediately, “That’s not fair! Why can’t a woman be the head of the family? Shouldn’t the most capable person take the lead?”
Walter interjected, “Enough. No more arguing. Let’s wait and see how things unfold. For now, have the kids in the family get ready.
“The Oriston Academy entrance exams are coming up soon. We can’t afford to have anyone fail. Whether it’s the House of Ivory or the House of Obsidian, they have to get in.”
With him speaking up, everyone quieted down and nodded.

Chapter 122
After being pushed around by Roxanne for so many years, they had learned to keep a low profile. Still, they’d done well for themselves lately and managed to get quite a few invitations from Oriston Academy–way more than the folks over at Vance Mansion.
But even then, they couldn’t break out of the shadows. Having to stay quiet after

I that effort left them burning with frustration
Meanwhile, the meeting had just ended. Malcolm looked over at Sharon, his face hesitant, as if unsure how to begin. “Hey, Sharon, there’s something I’d like to ask you privately.”
“Nope. Whatever it is, say it here,” Richard cut in flatly. He couldn’t see why anything needed to be said behind closed doors.
Sharon added, “Richie is right. If it’s about me, you can say it in front of my brothers.” She figured there was nothing she needed to keep from them
anyway.
Malcolm cleared his throat before saying, “I just wanted to ask about your Hunter Forum account. I know one of the junior moderators there, and he told me your account belongs to the owner of the forum.”
As soon as those words landed, the whole room sucked in a breath and stared at Sharon, wondering, ‘S–she’s the owner?‘
