Nicholas wasn’t surprised Sharon brought it up. He said, “That was an underground creature. The House of Obsidian’s job is to clean up things th making sure they never threaten ordinary people’s lives.
Sharon asked, “What exactly are underground creatures?”
Nicholas replied, “It’s not something I can explain in a few words. You’ll learn about them once you’re at the academy. It’s part of the basic curriculum. You’ll be tested on it later anyway.”
Sharon noted that this lined up with what Zanker had told her. She took a sip of coffee and said, “Now even more curious about the House of Obsidian.”
Nicholas told her, “If you’re just curious, you don’t actually have to go to the House of Obsidian. I’ve got a way for you to keep your family from worrying and still get the answers you want.”
Sharon was thrilled. She hadn’t expected there’d be a way like that, and honestly, she didn’t want her brothers to worry about her. She smiled, “If that’s the case, that would be perfect.”
Nicholas added, “There are daily clean–up missions in the House of Obsidian, and honestly, they’re dangerous. That’s why everyone’s worried. They don’t think it’s right for a girl to be doing that kind of work.
“Things are much easier in the House of Ivory. You won’t have to do anything dangerous, and you’ll still be able to see your brothers more often.”
Sharon tilted her head and curiously asked, “Is the House of Obsidian strict?””
Nicholas refilled her coffee before answering, “Much stricter than the House of Ivory. You’ll understand once you’re at the academy.”
Sharon sighed inwardly, “In that case, forget it.”
She nodded. “Alright, I’ll go along with it. But you’d better keep your
ur word.”
Nicholas responded, “Deal I’ll look out for you at the academy. If anything comes up, you can come straight to me.”
“Thanks, senior,” Sharon replied with a bright smile. Her eyes curved with warmth, her whole face lighting up like she’d been kissed by sunlight.
Nicholas caught the brilliance of her smile and, just for a moment, his icy composure wavered. He ducked his head and took another sip of his coffee

Jannie didn’t dare say much, All she sent was multiple laughing emojis.
Sharon replied flatly: One billion Hunter Colms are enough.|
Instantly, the group chat went dead silent.
Cameron gradually snapped out of it and quickly messaged: Where did one billion Hunter Coins come from? Didn’t Jannie say she only sent you 100 million Hunter Coins?)

When Cameron saw the message, his face drained of color. His heart sank as he thought, “So really just lost one billion Hunter Con phone in disbeliel before everything went black and he fainted,
After that, the group chat stayed completely quiet. Sharon didn’t bother imagining what kind of expressions her friends were making the figured they were probably priceless.
She set down her phone and calmly asked Nicholas, “Do you think I’ll win this time?”
“You’ve got one billion Hunter Coins, you little rich girl. None of the eight elders would dare cross you. You’re fine. Mrs. Vance is just clinging to what te power she’s got left.” Nicholas spoke without the slightest bit of respect for Roxanne,
A little shy, Sharon said, “It’s not like I got a ton. My friend just accidentally sent too much. I was only supposed to get a hundred million Hunter Coins. Hunter Coins aren’t that easy to come by, you know.”
Nicholas lips twitched with a faint smile. “Your friend is pretty impressive then. Mrs. Vance is definitely going to regret this one.”
“You’re… You’re not going to ask where the Hunter Coins came from?”
“There’s nothing to ask. That’s your business.”
Sharon mentally gave Nicholas another point and thought, ‘He’s more respectful than I expected.”
Nicholas spoke again, this time with a laid–back tone. “Looks like I need to start making some serious money.”
Sharon asked, “Why?”
Nicholas replied, “Well, I can’t exactly be the guy who can’t afford to take care of his fiancée, right? From now on, you can use my Hunter Coins too.”
At the word “fiancée“, Sharon tilted her head with a half–smile, her eyes teasing. “Are you trying to confess your feelings, Mr. Baxter?”
She took a good look at Nicholas, realizing how clean cut and attractive he was, with a natural charm that felt so refreshing
Sharon thought, ‘Hmm, this is exactly my type. He’s definitely my kind of guy.
Nicholas‘ throat bobbed slightly as he looked away. “You are my fiancée. I don’t do fake pairings with strangers. I only like people who like me back.”
The queen of flirting couldn’t help slipping into full charm mode. Propping her chin on her hand, she purred, “You still haven’t answered my question”

All of a sudden, Sharon leaned in so close that there was barely any space between them–their noses were just a breath apart.
They held each other’s gaze, hers bright and unguarded, his deep and steady. With a sly curve of her lips, she asked, “So, do you have a thing for me?”
