Tyler’s POV
Chapter 28
The night they arrived back in New York, Tyler locked Clarine in a secluded villa on the city’s outskirts and stationed guards to keep watch.
He only visited at night, spending each night there.
And every night he came, Clarine hurled insults at him.
At first, she tried every possible way to escape.
Tyler would get updates from the villa regularly.
She would lose it, smashing everything in sight.
Tyler merely replied indifferently, “Let her smash things, let her vent. Just buy new ones.”
When Tyler appeared at the villa that evening, the widespread mess had already been tidied up. Since smashing things didn’t work, Clarine tried to break out of the villa, even willing to fight with the maids and bodyguards on the spot.
Still, the maids and bodyguards dared not lay a hand on her. They could only find ways to restrict her freedom.
When they truly couldn’t handle it, the news reached Tyler’s ears.
At the time, Tyler was busy selecting new furniture. “It’s fine; you can lock her up. I approve.” Once she was confined entirely, Clarine went on a hunger strike.
Still, in Tyler’s eyes, this was nothing.
At every mealtime, the maids would tie her to a specific seat, give her nutrient injections and forcibly feed her.
After several days of this back–and–forth torment, Clarine ran out of options and gradually quieted down.
However, every night that Tyler appeared at the villa, she would curse him.
“Tyler, you’re breaking your promise! What kind of man kidnaps someone?”
“Are you completely insane? Hans won’t let you get away with this!”
Tyler looked at her with a gentle smile, but his eyes were filled with madness. “Insane? I’m only truly insane when you’re not by my side.”
Everyone in New York City knew that ever since he learned the truth and Clarine left, Tyler had completely lost his mind.
He sent Clara to his paternal uncle.
He broke Mr. Robinson’s legs and if that wasn’t enough, he also confined him to the basement..
Clara’s mother banged her head before Clarine’s birth mother’s tomb, her blood staining the tombstone red.
Later, he expelled Clara’s mother from New York and she was never heard from again. He swallowed up the Robinsons‘ businesses one by one.

When Tyler appeared at Clarine and Hans’s wedding, he was already holding himself back with immense restraint.
But in those days, whenever he closed his eyes, he dreamed of Clarine marrying Hans. He couldn’t bear it any longer; he had to keep her firmly by his side.
Tyler reached out, wanting to caress Clarine’s face, but she turned her head away, dodging his touch.
“Tyler, you’ve already ruined me once. Are you going to ruin my entire life now?”
“Do you have to force me to die before you’ll finally let go?”
Tyler shook his head, pain flashing across his face, but then he smiled softly.
“Clarine, I won’t let anything happen to you. I’ll protect you for the rest of your life.”
No matter what she said after that, Tyler only looked at her gently and repeated that line.
Not long after, he held a press conference to announce their remarriage.
Clarine was forced to attend. Several times, she tried to grab the mic and reveal the truth.
Alas, Tyler was one step ahead of her every time, catching on and preventing her from speaking.
“Mr. Jacobson, did you propose the remarriage to your wife?”
Tyler nodded, gazing at Clarine affectionately. “Yes. I was blind to so many things before. I hurt her. I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to her. Please, bear witness to my promise.”
The entire room erupted in murmurs, deeply moved by his apparent devotion.
