Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
I sat in the dressing room, staring at myself in the mirror in full bridal attire, feeling a little out of
- it.
I had thought this marriage to Hans would just be another business deal, no different from my last marriage.
Who knew that Hans had secretly loved me for so many years? This was the wedding he had waited for and planned for years.
Ever since learning the truth, I have found it hard to look Hans directly in the eye.
When I accidentally met his affectionate eyes, my heartbeat unconsciously sped up.
Although I agreed to Hans’s request, I haven’t fully gotten into the right mindset yet, nor figurec out how to approach him.
Suddenly, a chill ran down my neck as a cool necklace was placed around it.
Without realizing it, Hans had appeared behind me and put on the necklace for me.
My heart skipped again upon seeing him. “What are you doing here? I told you we should avoid seeing each other before the ceremony.”
“It’s almost time. You weren’t coming out, so I came to check on you.”
He playfully bopped the tip of my nose. “You were just sitting here spacing out. Clarine Robinson, are you nervous?”
“Who, who’s nervous? It’s not my first wedding; I’m experienced!”
Hans raised an eyebrow, a subtle smile playing on his lips. “Oh, really? That’s great, then. Since you’re experienced, please bear with the rest of the ceremony.”
I linked my arm with Hans’s and slowly entered the venue.
‘Are you … sure you want to reveal here that your legs are healed?”
“I’ve arranged everything, there won’t be any problems.”
The guests noticed our arrival from a distance and turned their gazes toward us.
Hans turned his head slightly and gave my hand a gentle, reassuring squeeze.
His hand was dry, warm and firm.
‘Clarine, you’re not alone. Don’t be afraid.”
Thinking back to the wedding three years ago, everything had been rushed.
Tyler was bound by a contract and didn’t want to marry me at all. He even sent a life–sized doll to complete the ceremony in his place.
At the wedding, relatives from both the Jacobson and Robinson families gave me various disapproving looks. I suffered immense humiliation at that wedding.
A dense, sharp pain pricked my heart. I took a deep breath, completely erasing that name from my mind.
Chapter 22
8:09 pm DDDD.
The wedding march began and hundreds of eyes turned to us.
Hans and I walked side by side, slowly entering the venue.
Guests on both sides were whispering.
“I heard Hans Schneider’s legs are healed; I can’t believe it’s true! So, his impotence …”
“It must be cured too, right? Why else would he marry?”
“Speaking of which, this bride is really beautiful. She looks like the eldest daughter of the Robinsons. But isn’t this her second marriage?”
“Does it matter if it’s her second marriage? Look how beautiful she is, full of elegance and wealth. Marrying her is a blessing for the Schneiders!”
Surprisingly, I didn’t hear a single negative comment.
All the guests were praising me, not caring about my past.
Hans must have arranged all of this. He wanted to soothe my grievances over the past three
years.
Warmth filled my heart.
Then came the ring exchange and vow ceremony.
The officiant read the vows and smiled at me. “Miss Clarine Robinson, do you take Mr. Hans
Schneider to be your husband?”
I was just about to respond.
Suddenly, there was a loud commotion outside. Bang! The doors to the venue burst open.
Tyler stormed in with a group of people, shouting at the top of his lungs. “Stop! I don’t agree to this! Clarine, you can’t marry him!”
