Roxanne’s hands trembled as she glared at them. “Are you all trying to drive me to my death? Over my dead body am I apologizing.”
Wayne’s face suddenly turned ashen. ‘We all knew this would happen, didn’t we? And yet I still had a bit of hope, he thought
Everyone knew exactly what kind of person Roxanne was.
Madeline’s eyes glistened with tears. “Mrs. Vance, do you really want the Vance family to change hands? Is that what you’re after?”
“How dare you speak to me like that!” Roxanne snapped.
Her face darkened as she clenched her teeth. “This isn’t something you youngsters get to decide with a simple vote. I demand that the eight elders and all the heads of the Four Great Families be present. Otherwise, I won’t accept this result.”
Malcolm’s expression grew serious.
Sharon looked over at him. “Is that actually a rule?”
Malcolm nodded. “Yes, it is.”
‘This old hag is really something else,‘ Sharon thought. ‘Making money these days is such a hassle.
“Fine then,” Sharon said. “Invite them all to the meeting. I’m not worried.”
Sharon’s gaze remained calm. She was determined to win this time. Nothing money couldn’t solve. And if it didn’t work the first time, she just doubled
the amount.
Malcolm looked troubled. “The Four Great Families won’t be a problem, but among the eight elders, only I’m currently in Aerions. The others aren’t here. They come and go as they please, and no one knows where to find them.”
A flash of satisfaction crossed Roxanne’s eyes. She’d known this would happen. ‘So, Sharon, what are you going to do now?‘ she thought.
Sharon frowned slightly and turned to look at her brothers, “Is that true?”
Malcolm thought, ‘What I’m saying is true, Miss Sugarmama. Please just believe me for once. This feels pretty disrespectful,’ he thought.‘
Richard nodded. “That’s what the rumors say, but we’re not certain.” He instinctively glanced toward Nicholas.
After all, Nicholas was the Baxter family heir and likely knew more inside information than the rest of them.
Nine pairs of eyes landed on Nicholas, making the pressure almost unbearable.
But Nicholas remained cool as a cucumber as he calmly replied, “Mr. Hargrove’s partly right. In fact, the eight elders do have a special way to contact each other in emergencies.”
Malcolm covered his forehead with his hand. ‘How does this kid know about this?‘ he thought. ‘Wasn’t he always at Oriston Academy? The rumors said he didn’t want to take over the Baxter family position, so why does he know so much?‘
A moment later, Malcolm forced a smile. “Hah, that’s actually true. I’m getting old and my memory isn’t what it used to be, Sorry about that.”
Sharon just smirked. “Heh.”
“But establishing emergency contact isn’t something to take lightly,” Malcolm continued. “It takes a lot of energy and can be physically taxing. I’m not young anymore, and it’s quite demanding.”
“100 thousand,” Sharon said coolly. “In Hunter Coins, of course. Consider it compensation for your trouble. What do you think, Mr. Hargrove?”

“Well, um, let me think about this.” Malcolm cleared his throat. “I can contact them, sure, but whether they’ll agree to come is another question. old guys can be pretty difficult to deal with.”
“500 thousand per person, as long as they can be here within a day.” Sharon threw out the offer casually, tossing several million into the conversation without even blinking.
Problems that money could solve were small problems. After all, Sharon hadn’t had many opportunities to spend money over the years.
Everyone present was stunned. Sharon was burning money without batting an eye.
