Chapter 97
Nicholas suddenly felt the weight of the world on his shoulders. If it was true, he’d need to make more preparations to protect Sharen
“Nick, I’m kind of curious,” Brent asked. “Does the entire Baxter family fortune combined even match your fiancée’s net worth?”
Nicholas, who had been deep in thought about life, snapped back to reality and his face immediately darkened. It seemed that Sharon really was wealthier than him right now.
Brent covered his mouth mischievously. “Hah, Nick, I never thought I’d see the day you’d be financially outmatched, and by your own fiancée less! Maybe I can get her to be my sugar mama. I’ll be walking around in the town like a king.”
The mental image was too ridiculous for him to even contemplate.
“Just try it,” Nicholas said, his cold gaze sweeping over Brent with clear warning in his eyes.
He wanted to see who would dare to frivolously spend Sharon’s money–well, except for her brothers, of course. That wasn’t something he could control
Brent rubbed his nose nervously. “Just kidding, Nick. Don’t be mad.”
‘We’re all going to be family anyway. You’re my boss, and Sharon will be your wife, Brent thought. ‘What’s wrong with Sharon giving me some spending money?‘
Soon after, Nicholas received a message from his father. [What’s this about 100 million gold coins on the Hunter Forum? What happened?]
Arnold felt like this situation was getting out of hand.
‘Why the sudden escalation? 100 million gold coins is no small sum. Even among the well–known noble families, not many can afford that kind of mone Did negotiations break down? Why the sudden decision to buy the Vance family?‘ Arnold thought.
Nicholas replied calmly: [Roxanne refused to apologize and said some nasty things, so this is how it turned out.]
Arnold: [This is ridiculous! The status of the Four Great Families absolutely cannot be undermined. You must stop this.]
The Four Great Families represented more than just power. They had special significance.
Even though the Vance family had fallen on hard times, their position among the Four Great Families couldn’t simply be replaced by others, regardless
wealth.
Money couldn’t solve everything.
Nicholas: [The people putting up the money are the eight Vance brothers. They’re the rightful heirs to the Vance family, so I don’t see any problem.]
Arnold paused, suddenly feeling like he’d forgotten something important. He frowned as he typed his response: [Was the person who made the post! fiancée?]
‘Otherwise, why would Nick suddenly change his attitude and show such blatant favoritism?‘ Arnold thought with a sigh.
Nicholas: [Yes, it’s her. I think the Vance family needs a new head. Thomas‘ descendants are clearly the most suitable heirs. I believe everyone can se
that.]
Arnold: [Even if we need to change the heir, this isn’t the way to do it. Without my approval, this plan can’t move forw+1
‘I need to consider all angles here. If we allow this to happen, what’s to stop others from trying the same thing in the future?‘ Arnold thought.
Nicholas fell silent. If his father wouldn’t agree, this would be tough to pull off. He glanced up at Sharon. When quiet, she looked sweet and gentle, b when she spoke, she showed real character and presence.

Chapter 97
Nicholas really couldn’t bear to see her disappointed. He pressed his lips together and replied: Father, please, I’m begging you. He added prifos helpless emoji for good measure.
Arnold rubbed his temples in frustration. ‘This ungrateful son!‘ he thought.
For years, Nicholas had been so arrogant, never showing an ounce of respect. Now, he was begging and making puppy dog eyes–all for a woman ‘Shameless,‘ Arnold thought.
After a long pause, Arnold responded angrily: [I’ll go talk to your grandfather first. This will probably bring all those old guys out of the woodwork. You keep things under control there.]
Nicholas: [Okay.]
Nicholas put down his phone, a flash of triumph in his eyes. When a young fox went up against an old fox, this fime, the young fox had won.
Nicholas walked over slowly and looked at Malcolm. “Let’s start arranging the vote now. The representatives of the Four Great Families are all here
anyway.”
“Oh, yes, I’ll arrange it right away,” Malcolm replied.
Malcolm’s mind had been busy calculating how much money he’d get from a 10 percent commission on 100 million. He couldn’t stop thinking about how he’d spend it, and he was practically buzzing with excitement.
‘Have I just become rich overnight?‘ Malcolm thought. ‘A 10 percent commission is 10 million Hunter Coins! My gosh, am I dreaming?”
But Malcolm couldn’t shake the feeling that he was missing something important. It had something to do with the Hunter Forum. ‘What exactly is it?! must be getting old and forgetful,’ he thought.
“I object,” Roxanne suddenly declared, slamming her hand on the table. Her previously elegant demeanor vanished, replaced by a dark scowl.
Sharon gave her a mocking smile. “It’s not up to you anymore.”
Malcolm cleared his throat. “Roxanne, they’re Thomas‘ children anyway, so they have every right to inherit the Vance family name. Why fight it? You’ll just embarrass yourself in the end.”
“Embarrass? What dignity does an old woman like me have left? I don’t care anymore,” Roxanne snapped.
“Grandma.” Wayne, who had been silent until now, suddenly stepped forward and dropped to his knees in front of Roxanne. “Grandma, we were wrong from the beginning. Please just apologize.”
Madeline joined in. “Yes, Mom. Do you really want to watch our family fall apart?”
Even a fool could see how the situation had changed.
Sharon had put up a 100 million bounty, and she still had 900 million coins in her pocket. More than enough to crush the Vance family completely.
Now that Malcolm had compromised for just a 10 percent commission, others would inevitably be bought off too. Wayne would lose his position as the Vance family heir, and their family would suffer the greatest loss.
What could have been resolved with a simple apology would now cost them the heir’s position–a terrible trade–off.
Madeline was filled with regret. ‘Who could have guessed that this brat Sharon would know such powerful people?‘ sh
ght.
Karen stood frozen in place as the reality of the situation sank in. If Wayne lost his position as heir, she would never show her face at Oriston Academy. It would be utterly humiliating.
With tears in her eyes, Karen looked at Sharon. “Are you satisfied now?” she asked bitterly.
“Not yet. After all, this isn’t over,” Sharon replied calmly with a cold smirk. ‘This is only the beginning,‘ she thought.
