Chapter 84
Chapter 84
By now, all Four Great Families knew about the situation.
The Baxter family reacted lastest, immediately seeking information about the Pierce family and Roxanne’s side. Just as they suspected, the Pierce Fannsty was now at odds with the eight Vance brothers over the Atlantis Hotel incident.
The council meeting could be convened if half the members of the Four Great Families agreed to it.
Edward let out a cold snort. “Some people just don’t know when to back off. Since their old man passed away, the Pierce family has really gone downhill. Things were better in my day. These young people today are completely unreliable.”
Edward shot a glaring look at Arnold and Nicholas standing nearby. ‘One can’t even find a wife, and the other can’t even produce a daughter. Each generation is worse than the last,‘ he thought.
Arnold and Nicholas, caught in the crossfire, exchanged looks, each silently blaming the other.
Nicholas spoke up, “Grandpa, how do you think we should handle this situation?”
“The main issue is that bounty. It’s gone too far at this point. If the bounty gets canceled, this whole thing would probably blow over. But will Sharon actually agree to cancel it?” Edward sighed.
Everyone outside thought the Baxter family had posted the bounty. But only they knew the truth. It wasn’t the Baxter family’s doing at all
Nicholas remained calm. “If Roxanne doesn’t apologize, Sharon probably won’t cancel it.”
“That’s right. Sharon might look sweet, but she’s stubborn to the core. Mrs. Vance hit a brick wall this time. Instead of protecting such an impressive granddaughter, she tried to put her down. Talk about backfiring,” Edward scoffed.
‘She could have used a gentle approach, but she chose the worst possible method and pushed Sharon away,‘ Edward thought.
“Grandpa, I just want to know what we should do,” Nicholas pressed.
Edward frowned, “Do you even need to ask? After all those years at the House of Obsidian, have you learned nothing? Of course we need to go back
Sharon up.
“With the Pierce family supporting her, Mrs. Vance might not back down easily, so this won’t be simple. I should stay out of sight. You’ll have to handle this yourselves.”
Edward couldn’t understand it. ‘Roxanne’s practically on her deathbed, so why worry about saving face? Isn’t having an S–level bloodline granddaughter something to be proud of?‘ he thought.
Edward decided to bail, pretending to be sick to avoid going out.
Nicholas glanced up at Arnold, but then Arnold cleared his throat. “I need to accompany your mother to an art exhibition. You can represent me just
fine.”
Nicholas frowned, “You’re not going?”
“As my heir, you’re qualified to represent me. Besides, it’s a perfect opportunity to make an impression on your fiancée. Shouldn’t you be jumping at the chance?”
“Aren’t you worried I’ll do something that will make it awkward for you to face the Pierce family later?”
“Whatever my worthless son does has nothing to do with me,” Arnold said before walking away. His exit strategy was remarkably similar to Edward’s
Nicholas remained calm. Since everyone in his family was so eager to pass the buck, he wouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of it. In his eyes, all this family power and face–saving was nothing but a charade.

Chapter 84
Meanwhile, at the Dolan Estate, Ernie was feeling conflicted, Roxanne’s behavior was simply asking for humiliation.
Sharon had an S–level bloodline, after all. Ernie finally understood why Edward was so attentive to Sharon. So that was the reason behind it all
Ernie glanced at Brent and then snorted. “You’re both students at the House of Obsidian, and you’ve spent all this time around Sharon How come your haven’t charmed her into becoming your wife yet?”
“Grandpa, what are you saying? She’s going to be my friend’s wife!” Brent nearly choked. ‘She’s Nick’s fiancés. How am I supposed to go a thought.
after her? he
The mere idea sent chills down Brent’s spine. He didn’t have that kind of courage, not to mention Sharon wasn’t even his type. He preferred tall beauties
with long legs, not the sweet, gentle type like her.
“If you’d charmed her first, she’d be your wife instead,” Ernie insisted.
“Grandpa, you’re acting really weird about Sharon. What’s so special about her that both you and Edward are so interested?”
These two men were the only surviving patriarchs of the Four Great Families. They rarely appeared in public, but whenever they did, something unusual always happened. Their behavior regarding Sharon was definitely out of the ordinary.
Ernie cleared his throat. “Don’t you think that girl is exceptional? She’s an S–level bloodline too, completely outclassing you. As a grown man, aren’t you
embarrassed?”
“Nick’s only A–level and he’s not embarrassed, so why should I be?” Brent got back to the point. “Grandpa, what should we do about this situation?”
“Just go there yourself. Whatever the Baxters do, you do the same. I’m feeling dizzy and unwell, so I won’t be going.”
This blatant favoritism was really something else.
Brent left the study only to find Ashley, Garrett, and Janelle waiting outside. “What’s going on?” he asked coolly. “Grandpa isn’t feeling well. He’s got a headache.”
“Brent, what did Grandpa say?” Garrett pressed. “About Sharon’s situation, what are we supposed to do?”
“Are we going to force Sharon to apologize and withdraw the bounty,?” Ashley, who had just heard about the incident, couldn’t hide her excitement. ‘Finally going to see that little brat Sharon get what she deserves!‘ she thought.
Brent looked at her with disbelief. “Who told you that?”
“Isn’t that what’s happening? The way she treated her own grandmother was totally inappropriate. Besides, their branch was kicked out of the Vance family. Shouldn’t they show some respect to Mrs. Vance?” Ashley assumed.
