Chapter 23 The Fall of Timothy
This friendship was clearly over.
Timothy’s face turned dark as he glared hatefully at the group of people before him. The group averted their gazes, not daring to meet his eyes.
The police, uninterested in dealing with anyone else, grabbed Timothy. “You’re coming with us. Explain the
situation at the station.”
“I’m not going! Let go of me! Do you even know who I am?” Timothy shouted.
Amelia raised an eyebrow, her eyes flashing with mockery. All she could think was how utterly foolish Timothy was to say something like that in front of the police?
Especially here at Nocturne. For the police to show up, it meant they were already prepared to go head–to- head with those in power.
As expected, the officer pressed harder on Timothy’s arm. “I don’t care who you are!”
The corners of Amelia’s mouth curved into a slight smile. “Mr. Chase, where’s Felix? Where is he?”
Timothy had just texted Amelia earlier, claiming Felix was hospitalized. Now, she was deliberately asking him in front of everyone, slapping him in the face with his own lie.
His lips trembled with rage. Never before had anyone provoked him like this.
The police tightened their grip on Timothy’s arm. “Tell us honestly. Where’s the other person?”
Humiliation washed over Timothy. The people in the room, who had just been flattering him a moment ago, now watched as if it were entertainment.
His once–proud dignity lay shattered on the ground, trampled beneath Amelia’s feet.
Amelia! He would never let her get away with this!
Outside the private room, a crowd of onlookers had gathered. Timothy was a regular here, and his face was well–known in the circle.
“Isn’t that Timothy from the Chase family? Why are the police here?”
“What’s going on? Logan Chase is here tonight. Someone should let him know,” Hearing that name, Timothy’s face turned ghostly pale.
“Don’t go!” But before he could finish, the crowd parted, revealing a man in a black button up walking in.
His presence exuded cold authority and the way his shirt was unbuttoned to his waist only added to his intimidating aura.
He glanced at the scene in the private room, a flicker of impatience crossing his brows. “What’s going on
here?”
Amelia had learned from her research that Logan was the heir to the Chase family and held a high position of power.
Timothy didn’t dare meet Logan’s gaze. Just as the police were about to explain, Logan lit a cigarette, hist

casual movements radiating oppressive authority:
Timothy, explain yourself.”
Timothy clearly feared his older cousin. His lips quivered, but no coherent words came out.
Logan’s patience wore thin. He pocketed his lighter, strode forward, and yanked Timothy by the hair. I told you to speak!”
Timothy, it wasn’t me, it was…”
Timothy’s gaze darted to Amelia, but the truth of what he had done the night before–drugging her drink- was undeniable. If the police investigated, both he and Felix would be done for.
He’d thought Amelia would be too scared to show her face for days, but not only did she show up tonight, she ensured everyone knew what had happened.
Amelia’s expression remained calm. She looked directly at the formidable Logan and succinctly recounted the events.
“That’s about it. Mr. Chase claimed I’d have to visit the gynecologist hundreds of times a year and said he could sleep with me if he paid a little money.
“Everyone here heard it. If this gets out, am I not within my rights to sue him for defamation?”
Timothy’s face turned even paler, and his voice became frantic. “Amelia, you…
Before he could finish, a resounding slap echoed through the room. Timothy’s head snapped to the side. blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Tears welled in Timothy’s eyes, but he didn’t dare make a sound. After all, it was Logan who slapped him. Amelia raised an eyebrow, feeling immensely satisfied.
Still, she wasn’t about to leave any loose ends. “Mr. Logan, you’ve humiliated him in front of everyone. What if he takes it out on me later? Officers, please take note. If anything happens to me, Timothy should be the first suspect.
Already seething with humiliation, Timothy coughed up blood at her words. Logan’s eyes darkened as he looked at Amelia, his expression unreadable.
Then he turned to the police. Thank you for coming tonight. We’ll handle this privately and ensure Ms. Summers receives a satisfactory resolution. As for Timothy’s nonsense, none of it will leave this room.”
His words made it clear. Anyone who spread rumors would be making an enemy of the Chase family.
Amelia toyed with the brim of her cap, her tone light. “Ah, so it was all a misunderstanding. But since everyone’s here, let me clarify. I am clean and upright. Mr. Chase is young and reckless with his words, so I’ll let it slide.”
Timothy, already on the verge of breaking down, rolled his eyes and fainted.
Logan exchanged a few words with one of the officers, who nodded before leaving with his team.
The crowd dispersed as well, and Timothy was carried away. The others in the private room, not wanting to provoke Logan, quickly made excuses and left.
