As Aidan grew more animated while speaking, he casually loosened his tie and rolled up his sleeves, revealing his firm forearms. The way he scribbled plans and diagrams across the paper made him irresistibly charming.
Before I realized it, it was already 2 a.m. I leaned against his shoulder, too drowsy to stay upright.
Through a haze of sleep, I felt myself being gently lifted and placed carefully onto the bed.
“Sleep well, Miss Milton,” he whispered, placing a soft kiss on my forehead. “Starting tomorrow, I’ll show you that choosing me was the best decision of your life.”
Morning sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains into the bedroom. As I opened my eyes, Aidan walked in with a tray of breakfast. His expression was conflicted.
“Wyatt waited outside all night.”
I slipped on a robe and stepped out onto the balcony. Down in the garden, Wyatt stood looking disheveled, his suit wrinkled, deep shadows under his eyes.
The moment he saw me, he looked up. “Aubrey, we need to talk.”
“There’s nothing left to say.” I turned to go back inside.
“Wait!” His voice was hoarse.
“That night… I was drunk. But you shouldn’t have made the video public! Olivia… she…”
“She’s just a girl,” he continued, “What will happen to her reputation now?”
I cut him off with a cold laugh. “You slept with her. Now you want to act like some noble gentleman?”
Wyatt suddenly raised his voice. “You love me! You’ve always loved me! Why would you do this to get revenge? Ever since we were‘ kids, your eyes were only on me!”
“Then I must’ve been blind.” I stared down at him from the balcony, voice like ice.
“When you broke my leg for Olivia’s sake–did you ever consider how I felt?”
His face went pale as a sheet. He staggered back a step.
“You… how did you know-”
“Get lost.” I closed the curtains. “Your precious Olivia is waiting for you at home.”
In the end, Wyatt was forced to marry Olivia.
As for me, Aidan and I boarded a flight to the Maldives without hesitation.
Beneath the sapphire skies and turquoise waves, Aidan finally confessed the feelings he had buried for years.
“Do you remember that time you tripped in the garden when we were fifteen?” he said, gently caressing the scar on my leg that had long since healed.
“I was the first one to find you. But the moment Wyatt showed up, it was like I didn’t exist.”

My chest tightened. All those years I had chased after Wyatt’s shadow, never realizing that a pair of burning eyes had been quietly following behind me.
During our honeymoon, Aidan proved his love not just with words, but with action.
By the time we returned to California, I was still sore and nestled in his arms, blissfully
content.
But the moment we stepped off the plane, a shadow lunged at us.
Smack!
Wyatt’s palm landed hard across my face.
His bloodshot eyes blazed with rage, his voice shaking.
“Why?! Why would you do this to me?!”
Aidan instantly pulled me behind him, while our bodyguards rushed forward and pinned Wyatt to the ground.
He lay there, disheveled and wild–eyed, screaming like a madman. “Aubrey! Where did you take Olivia?!”
I stared at him in shock, his face twisted with desperation.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“She was kidnapped this morning!” he roared, veins bulging at his temples.
“The kidnappers want thirty million! And now you just happen to return today? Don’t tell me that’s a coincidence!”
A chill crept up my spine.
Memories from my past life surged forward–blood dripping from a knife, the rooftop, the
terror…
I gripped Aidan’s arm tightly and sighed. “I think I know where she might be.”
The car sped through the streets.
In the back seat, Wyatt bombarded me with questions. “If it’s not you, then how do you know the location?!”
. I said nothing.
Eventually, we pulled up outside a building that felt all too familiar. Just as Wyatt rushed toward the rooftop staircase, I grabbed his arm.
“Wait.”
