Rosella’s POV
“Thank you for bringing me here,” I told the driver of the cab.
I looked at him with my swollen eyes. I had cried several times inside his car because I could not stop my emotions from spilling out. Everything felt unbearably heavy, and the farther I got from that house, the more I realized that the one thing I used to believe was the greatest blessing in my life was already broken. My marriage with Darius.
“Thank you? You think we’re done and I’ll let you get off here?” the driver asked.
I turned to him in shock. His previously calm demeanor shifted into something smug. My eyes widened as fear slowly crept into my chest. What did he mean by that?
m fine here,” I said, then tried to open the door, but it was locked. I turned to face the man
in, my eyes filling with tears once more. “Please, don’t do anything bad to me.”
“Of course not!” he snapped, sounding defensive now.
He gave me an offended look, as if I had just wounded his pride with what I said.
“I drove for six hours just to get you away from your husband’s house, and you think I planned something bad for you?” he said, clearly irritated.
I was speechless. But what did he mean earlier? Why wouldn’t he let me out yet?
“My cousin told me to take you far away from here. You can still be tracked in this place, so I won’t let you off just yet. We’ll wait a little longer,” he added.
I swallowed my shame and lowered my head. He was right. Everything he said made sense. But I could not help the small voice in my head whispering doubts. What if he saved me from Darius only because he had his own plans?
But did he say he was Desmond’s cousin?
“Do you know why Desmond is helping me?” I asked hoarsely.
Instead of answering me, he took his phone and typed something. A few minutes later, the phone rang. He handed it to me.
“Ask him yourself,” he said coolly.
I took the phone from his hand and spoke. “Thank you again. We’ve already gotten far.”
“That’s good to hear, Luna. My cousin will bring you to an airport even farther away than this one, so they won’t be able to trace you easily,” Desmond said.
I glanced at the bag he had given me. Aside from the plane ticket, there was also a large amount of money inside, enough for me to survive for a while without using any banks. “Thank you. But can I request one more thing, Desmond?” I said, suddenly remembering something important. “I have a gift for Darius’s father’s birthday. It’s hidden in the condo unit Darius bought for me. Can you send it to his party today?”
I knew Darius would be there. It was impossible for him to notice I was gone, unless the guards or someone else in the mansion already told him. I just hope it’ll take them forever

‘till they notice. I originally planned to leave quietly. I had no intention of sending the gift anymore. But after he locked me up, I thought maybe it was better if my silent goodbye became loud enough to make an impact.
any
If the public knew that I was divorcing their Alpha, Darius would no longer be able to use tricks to force me to stay. His parents might hate me for leaving their son, but I knew they would at least wonder why it happened.
I no longer cared if Sasha would be caught in the middle. After all, this was what she wanted. The attention, the De Laros, all of it. She could have everything now, as long as I could walk away free.
e you sure about that? He might start to suspect something if you manage to send a gift to the former Alpha,” Desmond said cautiously.
“We’ve already traveled far, Desmond,” I said, glancing at the driver who was watching me through the rearview mirror. “I think your cousin will succeed in getting me to the airport before Darius finds me.”
Desmond agreed to the plan. I returned the phone to his cousin, who waited patiently. He started the engine, and the car roared to life again.
“I’m sorry, but what’s your name?” I asked, wanting to show him my gratitude properly. “Erik,” he mumbled, as if he was reluctant to say it but felt like he had no choice. “Thank you, Erik. If someday you lose your job because my husband finds out you helped me, please don’t hesitate to contact me here,” I said, handing him my personal calling card. Erik looked at it, then smirked as he took it from my hand. “You think I’m just an ordinary driver, huh?”
I fell silent. Once again, I had judged someone wrong. He looked at me with quiet pride. “Desmond wouldn’t trust someone like you to just any driver. I’m also a pilot. And I own a security agency that will make sure your whereabouts stay hidden. So don’t worry about me, Mrs. De Laro. You and I will be just fine.”
I nodded and shed another tear as I looked at the wind
The young Rosella would be shocked to learn I’m running away from the very man she thought would protect her.
“I hate you, Darius…” I sobbed.
