Darius‘ POV
My father glanced around my office inside the council. I sighed because to me, it was almost funny to see him irritated and angry.
He deserved it. It felt so unfair that he would be happy while I was struggling and miserable now.
“How does it feel?” I asked him, my voice full of mockery. “To see your son wrecked and broken, miserable because he divorced his beloved wife, while you, his father, are planning to marry him off again?”
His eyes rolled at me and his lips pressed tightly together as if he heard something painful to his ears.
He has always been like this. He does not care about anything unless it benefits him. Wealth, the family name, and legacy are more important to him than me, his own son. Before, I dreamed of having a father I never had. But now, I cannot even visit Sasha or ask how our child is because I feel like I don’t care anymore. Because I have only been worried about having a child for the two of us, for my beloved wife, but she is no longer here. She had left me.
She’s probably having the best day of her life because finally, no mad husband would follow her and bug her for a chance. She could have everything she wanted in life, including that man.
“I am giving you a chance,” my father said as if he were just talking to an employee causing him stress. “Mourn all you want, but after this week, I want you to fix yourself and get ready because I have already spoken with the Wilsons.”
“You spoke with them and planned my wedding without me?” I said in disgust.
Is this really how he is? He is even depriving me of seeing my mom, telling me I do not deserve it because I haven’t done anything right these past few months.
I was completely broken, but he wanted to drag me down even further because I feel like I deserve it now, since I cannot do anything right.
Never once did my father try to comfort me. All he did was dictate what I should do.
“Yes, we cannot wait any longer and the Wilsons are rushing things. Listen, young man-
“I am no longer a boy. You don’t have to dictate to me anymore.”
“Yes, I do,” his voice rose. “How dare you say you are no longer a child but you cannot even keep your marriage intact for life? You have caused so many problems you cannot even solve.”
I covered my ears because the sound was no longer good for me. So many bad things had happened these past few days‘ and I didn’t need his negative words on top of that.
But his words pierced my mind. And I know my father will never let me go without getting what he really wants to happen,

To make things worse, Desmond came running to me.

“Sasha was rushed to the hospital. They say she is about to give birth, but the doctor. declared both of them are fifty–fifty.”
I stood up at the news. “What happened? Shouldn’t she have taken care of herself? She hasn’t even done that yet?” I shouted.
Desmond came closer and whispered, “She got stressed when she saw the news of your planned marriage. I think you need to go to the hospital to decide whether to keep the baby or save Sasha.”
My father immediately smiled at that. I stared at him sharply.
“Get things done with your mistress. Everything must be arranged and settled before this week ends. Choose the baby. You need an heir. Discard your mistress. That is the best deal here.”
“But surely Sasha’s father will never let that happen,” said Desmond.
“Tell him it is an alpha’s order. We are choosing the baby. End of discussion,” my father pointed at me. “If you do not choose the child and you come back without a living baby to secure your position, don’t ever show yourself here again.”
After that, he turned his back on me. I wanted to fight his words because he was so quick to disown me as his son when I did not obey what he wanted. But there was something more important I had to do.
“Take me to the hospital,” I said. “I already lost a wife. I cannot lose my son.”
