Chapter 26
Startled, the young man shoved him away. “I–I don’t know exactly. I heard she and her family went back to their home country. Something about visiting her parents…”
Bang.
Rhett didn’t say another word. He turned and left, fast. He was already on his way to the airport.
That day, the entire city was buzzing with a single explosive headline:
“Sinclair Group CEO’s ex–wife is now dating Caleb Bennett–Rhett demoted to a lovesick third wheel!”
The gossip spread like wildfire. People whispered in offices, at cafés, in private clubs. Some even showed up outside the Bennett family estate, hoping to witness the drama unfold firsthand.
And there, in the pouring rain, stood Rhett.
Drenched, unmoving, he ignored every curious glance and mocking stare. His burning gaze was
fixed solely on one person–Vivian.
“Vivian,” he said hoarsely, “I won’t give up. You belong to me.”
“Sorry,” Caleb replied coolly, stepping forward. “You won’t get that chance.”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the door of an armored vehicle slammed open. Armed men–clearly trained, clearly dangerous–poured out, surrounding Rhett without hesitation.
lled Vivian into his arms and gave a pointed, mocking smile.
really thought you could fight a mafia family over a woman? Better learn your place.”
Vivian’s expression didn’t shift–calm, collected, cold.
“Rhett,” she said, voice low and unwavering. “Stop showing up. No matter what you do, I will never
forgive you.”
“Your persistence? It’s not romantic. It’s exhausting.”
Her parents stood just behind her, faces lined with both weariness and disdain.

“No use begging,” her father snapped. “We’ll never approve, and if you can’t even pass us, then don’t dream about being forgiven by her.”
“You nearly got us killed,” her mother added. “Just go back to your life of parties and women. We
don’t care if you have one a night–as long as we never have to see your face again.”
Rhett lowered his eyes. He didn’t respond, didn’t defend himself. He only repeated the words in his
heart:
I don’t want anyone else. Only her. Only Vivian.
But that didn’t stop the armed men from escorting him away.
From then on, there were regular patrols stationed outside the Sinclair Group headquarters–to
ensure Rhett didn’t attempt anything reckless, especially where Vivian was concerned.
Later, business partners–hearing the rumors of his “taste for beautiful women“-started bringing
gifts to their meetings: models, influencers, actresses… many of them uncannily resembling Vivian.
He turned every single one away.
Because Rhett knew the truth.
Vivian was gone. For good.
And he didn’t want to live another day making mistakes he’d regret for the rest of his life.
