Chapter 20
The man stumbled back, wiping blood from his lip.
“Your what? Are you insane?! If she’s your wife, then who am I?!”
He swung back, but Rhett caught his fist.
The woman gasped and rushed between them, shielding the man.
“What is wrong with you?! I don’t even know you! Come on, babe–let’s go!”
She glared at Rhett.
And in that moment, reality slapped him in the face.
He’d been wrong.
Again.
It wasn’t her.
Just another shadow.
“…I’m sorry,” he mumbled, defeated.
He handed over money to settle the mess.
Then dragged his feet away.
Back to the endless search.
He never realized-
Just how many people in the world looked a little like Vivian.
Her hair.
Her voice.

Her eyes.
But none of them were her.
And he couldn’t accept anyone else.
He only wanted her.
Just when he was on the brink of collapse–his phone buzzed.
A message from Assistant Henry.
“Mr. Sinclair–we found her! Vivian and her parents are at this restaurant. This is the location. Go
now!”
Rhett stared at the message.
Stared at the attached photo–Vivian’s profile, grainy and imperfect, but unmistakable.
His chest tightened, vision blurred.
She was here.
He dashed to the restaurant, didn’t care about his appearance, even didn’t breathe. Just ran.
He burst into the private dining room-
“Vivian!”
And next second, he froze.
Inside were Vivian, her parents, and-
Caleb.
Rhett’s heart dropped.
‘Caleb?! What the hell are you doing here?!”
Caleb looked up, calm.Even smiling slightly.
‘As Vivian’s boyfriend… why wouldn’t I be here?”

Boyfriend.
Boyfriend?!
His breath caught
No… that’s not… Vivian–how could he be your boyfriend already?! Please. I need to hear it from you. I need to understand.”
His voice trembled, eyes red, falling apårt.
Vivian, however, looked unconcerned as she ate her plate and casually said, “Is it surprising that I have a boyfriend when most of the year has passed since our divorce?”
“He pursued me for a long time. I figured… why not give it a try? I’m single. What’s wrong with that?”
Rhett stood frozen.
Mouth open.
No words came out.
Half a year.
Her calm words were sharper than blades, each one slashed deep, cutting through him until nothing
was left.
He choked on his own voice,No. It’s not okay. None of this is okay.”
“I don’t want to see you with someone else. You’re mine.I love you. Only you.”
Vivian let out a soft, bitter laugh.
It was barely more than a breath, but it cut sharper than any words.
“You keep saying you love me,” she said, her voice ice–cold.
“Is this what love looks like to you? Hurting someone until they’re too broken to fight back?”

“Then I’d rather never be loved again.”
Her eyes held no affection.
Only emptiness.
And silence.
Vivian’s parents stood nearby, their faces dark with fury.
“Mr. Sinclair,” her father said sharply, “you’re not one of us. Go back to your luxury life, your toys and mistresses. You want a woman? Snap your fingers. But don’t treat our daughter like one of your
cast–offs!”
“You took our healthy, happy daughter–and you ruined her. Do you even realize what you’ve done? How much pain she’s suffered, how many scars she hides because of you?”
“You locked her in jail, humiliated her, hurt her over and over again! What did she do to deserve a
man like you?!”
The more they spoke, the more tears welled in their eyes.
Her mother even started hitting Rhett in frustration.
But Rhett didn’t fight back.
He just lowered his head and took it all–every slap, every word.
After a long moment, he whispered hoarsely:
“…What about Caleb? He’s a rich man too, just like me. What makes you so sure he won’t hurt her
one day, the way I did?”
