Chapter 12
Rhett’s face froze.
The expression on Rhett’s face froze, not reacting to what the assistant said for a long time.
“How can it not be Vivian? Are you kidding? Directly call her in, the negotiation of cooperation is postponed for now.”
“Sir,” the assistant said carefully, “she’s not here. You can check yourself if you don’t believe me.”
Those words hit like a stap.
He couldn’t lie to himself anymore.
Rhett stormed into the conference room, his aura colder than ice.
Everyone around him shivered in fear.
The entire day passed-
And still, nothing from Vivian.
Not one message.
Not a single call.
By the time work ended, Rhett’s expression was thunderous.
Staff kept their heads down, praying not to be noticed.
He couldn’t wait any longer.
He jumped into his car and sped home.
By now, the city had lit up beneath the night sky.
But the villa–perched quietly on the hillside–was completely dark.
For a moment, he thought it was a trick of the light.

A power outage, maybe.
He checked again.
Still dark.
His heart began to pound.
“Vivian, what the hell is this?” he muttered. “Silent treatment? Playing hard to get? You should know
that doesn’t work on me.”
He shoved open the front door, flipped on the lights, and started searching room by room.
Empty.
The whole villa was eerily silent, as though no one had lived there in days.
There was dust on the coffee table.
The flowers in the vase had long since withered, only a yellowed stem remaining.
No fresh footprints. No movement.
She was gone.
Panic slammed into him.
No–she couldn’t have left.
She had no way to divorce him.
He had money, power.
She couldn’t run. Couldn’t hide.
He forced himself to stay calm.
“To hell with this,” he muttered. “Vivian, if you come out now, I’ll spend more time with you.”
“I told you before–Faye was just a phase. I’m already bored of her. You’re the one I love. The one I can’t replace. Give me a little more time. I’ll come back to you completely.”

“If you keep this up, what’s the point? Don’t push me. What if I really do divorce you?”
But no matter how much he talked-
There was only silence.
He searched every room. Every corner.
She wasn’t there.
Not even her belongings were.
She… was really gone.
And now that the truth finally hit him-
Rhett’s expression twisted.
The air around him grew suffocating.
Not just her things.
Their memories, their shared life–all of it–gone.
He ran out back.
The tulip field he had planted for her-
Gone.
Just bare soil and a few patches of dead grass.
He knelt down, disbelieving.
Touched the earth.
Dry. Untouched for days.
She’d had it cleared out from long ago.
And he hadn’t even noticed anything.

When the realization hollowed him out, he felt like he was falling into an endless pit.
Trembling, he pulled out his phone.
Called her.
“The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”
The robotic voice pierced through the silence.
Again.
“The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”
He stood there, clutching the phone–staring into nothing.
Vivian… was gone.
And she was never coming back.
“Vivian, where the hell did you go?!”
Rhett finally sent his first message in days.
But the next second, a bright red exclamation mark appeared.
Message failed.
He stared at it–burning into his retinas like fire.
magined a day would come when Vivian would cut off all contact.
surged.
He immediately dialed her parents.

Again.
And again.

The same cold, mechanical voice.
Taunting him.
Vivian’s parents had blocked and deleted every means of contact.
They were serious.
They wanted nothing more to do with him.
But Rhett couldn’t allow it.
They weren’t divorced. He never signed anything. Even if they fled to the ends of the earth–he would drag them back.”
His expression turned menacing. He called his assistant.
Track Vivian and her family down. I don’t care what it takes. Start from the kidnapping. I want a full report of every place they’ve been since.”
“Vivian wants to leave me? Over my dead body!”
