It was so absurd that Amelia froze in disbelief. Milly cried, so she had to apologize? She found it laughable. “Apologize? For what? Breathing the same air as her?”
Nolan was momentarily speechless, unable to find a rebuttal. Milly clung to his sleeve, her tear–filled eyes fixed on Amelia.
“Amelia, I deserved that slap yesterday. Don’t stay angry. Mom even asked about you during dinner tonight. She wants to know when you’re coming home. Alexander’s on summer break now too. You can’t keep this up forever. It’s making everyone unhappy.”
།
Nolan seemed to latch onto her words. “Exactly! You slapped Milly yesterday. Hurry up and apologize!”
Amelia looked at the scumbag and the pretentious girl, then chuckled. “You two must’ve escaped from the same mental hospital. Your symptoms are identical.
“One of you thinks I’m hopelessly in love, and the other believes I’m desperate to share those scraps of affection. Maybe you should go back for further treatment. Any later, and it might be too late.” With that, she strode off without looking back.
Nolan was furious. How glad he never realized how sharp–tongued Amelia could be? Without thinking, he released Milly’s waist and stormed after Amelia. “Amelia, what are you saying? Don’t you like me? How dare you talk to me like that?”
Milly remained in the hall, watching their retreating figures. Her face twisted in rage. She took out her phone and called Timothy.
“Milly, what’s wrong?”
“Timothy… I…” Her sobs were pitiful.
Timothy immediately grew anxious, stepping out of the private room to find a quiet spot. “Did Amelia bully you again?”
“No, she just slapped me, that’s all. Timothy, I just feel upset and wanted to talk to you.”
“That wretch! Just wait. I’ll make her pay for this!”
A satisfied smile flashed in Milly’s eyes, and her mood lifted. As long as she wanted, she could make any man dance in the palm of her hand.
By then, Amelia had already reached the curb where a cab was waiting. Nolan crossed his arms, his tone mocking. “You never used to sit in cars worth less than 600,000.”
Already seated, Amelia responded evenly, “Nolan, let’s meet at the Summers residence tomorrow night. It’s about ending the engagement.”
The smug look on his face vanished, replaced by a deep scowl. “Amelia, you’re taking this act too far.”
Amelia leaned back against the seat, her posture straight, like an unyielding flower in a storm. “7:00 pm. I’ll see you at the Summers residence.” With that, she instructed the driver to leave.
Nolan stood frozen, his gaze locked on the car as it disappeared down the road. At that moment, a pair of arms wrapped around his waist. Milly’s tearful voice called out, “Nolan.”

Chapter 17:7.00 pm. I’ll See You at the Summers Residence
Finished Milly, Amelia said she wants to end the engagement at 7:00 pm tomorrow night at the Summers residence.
A flicker of surprise crossed Milly’s face before she spoke with feigned grievance. “She’s said that many times before. When the time comes, she always finds some excuse to back out. This is just to get your attention. But this time, it seems she succeeded. Nolan, are you sure you’re not starting to care about her?”
Nolan felt guilty, quickly cupped her face and kissed her lips. “Of course not. I just find her even more annoying than before.”
Milly’s expression grew cold, her lips pressing into a thin line. “Did you see Dylan at the company today? I heard he stopped by.”
“Yes, strangely enough. It’s his first time showing up since returning to the country.” Her expression darkened further, her hands slowly curling into fists until her nails bit into her palms.
“Do you think it might have something to do with Amelia?”
“You don’t actually think Dylan has any interest in her, do you? Amelia is just a pretty face. What else does she have? Dylan has no interest in dating.” Nolan burst out laughing as if he’d just heard the most ridiculous joke.
Milly quietly wiped the blood from her palm and looked up, her eyes once again filled with feigned gentleness. “I was just saying.”
After all, that wretched Amelia was going to be dealt with soon enough.
