Chapter 14 If It Wasn’t To Pursue Me
Amelia knew he was referring to Nolan. In Solandis, everyone believed that everything she was doing now was for Nolan. She couldn’t defend herself no matter what she said.
*Mr. Hale, I’m really short on money right now. I just want a job. Hale Corporation’s salary is decent, and I’m willing to work hard.” If one could endure hardship, then there was no end to the hardship they’d face.
Amelia understood this truth all too well, but she still wanted to join Hale Corporation. She wanted to find out what had happened to Dylan’s legs and to uncover what their past relationship had been like.
Dylan, seated in the car, let out a sudden, mocking laugh. Amelia felt that chill again, as though her words had hit another one of his sore spots.
He closed his eyes, his face cold and emotionless. “If you want to come, then come.”
Amelia’s eyes lit up, and she quickly bowed. “Thank you! I’ll come by tomorrow to complete the onboarding process!”
Dylan said nothing as the car window slowly rolled up. After the car drove through the large iron gates, Dylan finally spoke to Nathan in the front seat, “This is the last time.”
“Mr. Hale, I just think her intentions aren’t pure. Sooner or later, she’ll stir up trouble with Nolan again, and you’ll have to clean up the mess.”
Dylan looked out the window, his hand lightly resting on the file next to him, saying nothing.
Nathan didn’t dare say more. He genuinely loathed Amelia, to the point where he wished she would disappear entirely.
Meanwhile, Nolan had just finished a date with Milly and had accompanied her to buy several designer bags.
He was a bit surprised. Whenever he went out alone with Milly for a meal in the past, Amelia would always find a way to meddle.
This only made him despise Amelia more and more, but tonight had gone surprisingly smooth. He had even prepared a string of scornful remarks, yet hadn’t had the chance to use them.
“Nolan, what are you thinking about?”
Nolan tilted her chin up, glaring at the slap mark still visible on her face. His anger flared. “Why hasn’t it faded yet?”
Milly lowered her lashes, looking pitiful. “Maybe it’ll fade by tomorrow. Amelia’s temper has been bad lately. She even slapped Alexander, and he’s still upset about it.”
“She’s completely out of control! Haven’t your parents said anything to her?”
“Whenever they try, she threatens to run away from home. This time, she’s been gone for two days already. My mom’s so angry she’s fallen ill.
Nolan’s expression was filled with disdain. Anyone with a daughter like Amelia must have been cursed.
“Milly, thank goodness your family has you. I heard the project you invested in recently made tens of millions again. You’re amazing.”

Mily’s lips curled Tate a smile. I do own 10% of the company’s shares I’ve spent so much of the family money, so I have to contribute more..
Tah Someone’s been freeloading off the Summers family for years without lifting a finger. You’ve only been hack for five years, and you’ve already managed the projects so well. How can two sisters be so

The next morning. Amelia dressed simply and brought her documents to Hale Corporation to report for
work.
While completing her onboarding paperwork in the HR department, she ran into Nolan stepping out of the elevator.
His expression immediately darkened. No wonder she hadn’t caused trouble last night. She had followed him to the company instead.
He grabbed her wrist, his tone urgent and accusing. “Amelia, I don’t care what kind of scene you make outside, but I’ve told you countless times. Hale Corporation is not a place for your nonsense!”
Amelia stared at his agitated expression, a wave of frustration surging in her chest. She shook his hand off firmly.
Nolan’s gaze deepened. “By doing this, you’re only making me hate you even more. And as for the slap you gave Milly yesterday, you should be grateful I don’t hit women.”
The HR staff handed Amelia her employee badge, which she hung around her neck. She looked up at the man in front of her.
“Starting today, I’m an employee of Hale Corporation. Nolan, I’m not here to chase after you. You’re not that charming.”
Nolan’s face looked as though he’d been slapped, but he quickly rationalized it. “If you’re not here to chase me, why would a lazy freeloader like you suddenly decide to get a job?”
