Chapter 10 This Time, You Went Too Far
The room fell silent for a moment before erupting into mocking laughter.
Of course. Nolan, your guess was spot on again.”

Tonight, Nelan didn’t bring Milly along. Instead, he had a stranger by his side, a hired escort. Men had their flaws. In this circle, if everyone hired an escort and you didn’t, it made you look bad.
So don’t believe it when a man says, “They all did it, but I didn’t.“, no man wants to be the odd one out in this game.
The moment Nolan saw Amelia, a flecting trace of surprise flashed in his eyes before it quickly turned into resignation.
He frowned, placing his glass on the table. “Amelia, are you done being annoying?”
She’d already caused scenes multiple times at Nocturne and now she was here again, dressed as a staff member. Each visit felt more desperate than the last.
Amelia bent slightly, picked up the most expensive bottle of Romanée–Conti and smiled at the group. “Who ordered this wine? Shall I open it for you?”
She had already overheard the group’s chatter at the door of the private room. Though a slight pang of bitterness arose in her heart, she pushed the door open and entered.
Seeing the nouveau riche air surrounding these young men, she felt as though she were looking at walking piles of gold and silver. The thought that the 20,000 dollars might be recouped quickly crossed her mind.
A bottle of Romanée–Conti cost 200,000 dollars. These men had money to burn but they were even more eager to watch her embarrass herself.
Felix glanced at Amelia’s figure, his gaze lingering on her legs. Nudging Timothy with his elbow, he smirked. “Don’t lie. Those legs could keep you entertained for a year.”
Both men were close friends of Nolan and they’d spent plenty of time badmouthing Amelia. Yet Nolan never stopped them.
After all, having a stunning woman who was willing to throw herself at him made him look good among his
peers.
Timothy, however, sneered in disdain. No matter how beautiful she was, she was still a useless nobody. “Amelia, we’ll pay per bottle you can drink.”
Nolan immediately wanted to step in. While they were rich. This wine cost 200,000 dollars per bottle and Amelia’s drinking was…
“Timothy, she can really hold her…” Before he could finish, Amelia had already opened the bottle and smiled at the group. “Alright, you said it.”
Timothy couldn’t stand her and eagerly awaited the sight of her drunken disgrace. He leaned back, grinning.
“That’s right. I said it. Drink up and don’t say I didn’t warn you. Nolan doesn’t like you, no one in this room does either. If you pass out and someone takes advantage of you, don’t expect anyone to clean up your
mess.”

Everyone knew the Summers family adored Milly, while Amelia was just their discarded baggage. Amelia. picked up a wine glass, filling it to the brim. She finished the bottle in one go, then opened a second, and a
third
Timothy’s smug expression gradually faded. He began to squirm uncomfortably, like ants were crawling over him.
Amelia didn’t show the slightest hint of drunkenness. If anything, she looked ready to down a few more bortles. 600,000 dollars was already gone and while they were wealthy, this was no way to spend money.
The room’s lively chatter fell into awkward silence. Someone tugged at Nolan’s sleeve, worried that Timothy might lose face.
Nolan scowled, glaring at Amelia. “Enough, Amelia. Stop embarrassing yourself.” By now, Amelia had drained the fourth bottle. She smiled faintly at him. “Who are you?”
Her words sparked a round of derisive laughter. “Who are you kidding? You’re obviously here for Nolan. I’l admit this tactic is a step up from your usual antics. At least everyone will remember you now.”
Ignoring the jeers, Amelia opened a fifth bottle. Timothy’s face had turned black with anger. Nolan stood, grabbed Amelia’s wrist and hissed, “That’s enough. Stop this nonsense. Do you want everyone to laugh at you?”
Amelia clutched her glass, turning her gaze to Timothy. “If this gentleman can’t afford it, perhaps the others could chip in.”
Timothy’s face flushed red with fury and humiliation. “Amelia, this ridiculous behaviour is exactly why Nolan doesn’t want you. You’re not even a fraction of what Milly is !”
Amelia calmly finished her final glass. “Oh, so you like Milly.” Her words hit a nerve. Timothy panicked and instinctively looked at Nolan
Nolan’s expression darkened as he shoved Amelia. “What nonsense are you spouting?”
“If I’m wrong, take a look at your buddy’s reaction. Maybe you should check if he’s been seeing Milly behind your back.” As she spoke, she lined up the five empty bottles. “1 million. Please pay up.”
She had her hand out to Timothy. Flustered and guilty, Timothy didn’t hesitate. He handed over his card without delay.
After swiping the payment, Amelia glanced at Nolan, the oblivious fool in this whole ordeal. Judging by Timothy’s eagerness to pay, it seemed likely he and Milly really had been involved.
She arched her brow but said nothing. Her silence speaks volumes. She turned away and left the room to change in the employee lounge.
The door slammed open behind her. Nolan stormed in, seething with anger and grabbed Amelia by the throat. “Amelia, are you trying to die? This time, you’ve gone too far!”
Humiliated in front of so many people, how could he and Timothy face each other again? As she stared at his furious face, a sharp pain stabbed through her chest.
That pressure on her neck tightened and she began to suffocate. The pain spread from her heart to every corner of her body, leaving her icy cold.
