Juno’s POV
I straddled him boldly, intying iny fobe to reveal my naked body beneath. His eyes darkened to stormy gray as his hands slid op my sides in cup my breasts. He sat up to kiss them, his tongue teasing each nipple into a hard peak.
Then, to my surprise, he gently rolled me off him and stood up, leaving me breathless and disappointed on the bed.

Augustin noticed immediately and pulled away, concern replacing desire. “Berry? What’s wrong?”
I covered my face with my hands, shame washing over me. ‘I did something bad,” I sobbed. “You’re going to hate me.”
Augustin stood up from the bed, his body tense. “What happened?”
“I saw Kieran at the festival,” I forced out between sobs.
His fists clenched, his hands beginning to shake. His eyes darkened instantly, anger rolling off him in waves.
“He’s my fated mate,” I continued, “I only found out last night. It had something to do with Matthew’s mark.”
Fenris began to growl low in Augustin’s chest.

“The pull was so strong, I explained desperately, wiping at my tears. “It was intoxicating. We… we kissed.”
Augustin roared, his fury filling the room. I flinched but forced myself to continue.
“He almost marked me.” My voice shook with the confession. “But I refused him. It took everything I had, but I said no.”
I looked up at him, willing him to understand. I have nothing to give him because my heart already belongs to you. It was hard, but he accepted it in the
end.”
I braced myself for his rage, for accusations and recriminations. But instead, Augustin moved to the edge of the bed and pulled me into his arms, burying his face in my neck.

I nodded, fear and uncertainty still coursing through me as tears streamed down my checks. He held me close, rocking me gently as he pressed kisses to my hair, my forehead, my tear–stained cheeks.
