The eight brothers turned their heads in unison, their eyes fixed on Sharon. Their hearts cried out in despair. ‘Stari, are you going to abandon us? We promised to dance with you. Shari looks so beautiful. I really like her, they thought.
Sharon let out a soft sigh. “It’s okay.”
Nicholas stood where he was, dressed in a white suit that matched the tailcoats of the eight Vance brothers. What a coincidence.
Sharon was wearing a black evening gown today, which perfectly complemented the white. Together, they looked like a perfectly matched couple.
Nicholas took the initiative and walked over, bending down gracefully. “Beautiful lady, may I have this dance?”
“Sure,” Sharon replied, extending her hand. The two stepped onto the dance floor, creating an incredibly elegant scene.
Many onlookers were envious and jealous, mostly of Sharon. After all, Nicholas rarely appeared in public, let alone danced with a girl. ‘How lucky Sharon is. I wish I could take her place and dance with Nicholas, some of the girls thought to themselves.
However, there were those who glared at Nicholas with disapproval, like the eight Vance brothers. Their eyes gleamed with a murderous intent.
Richard clenched a towel in his hand, grinding his teeth. “I really wa

Wallace’s gaze turned cold. “Nicholas, you better not fall into my hands.”
Marvin was so angry that he seemed ready to explode. “I want to put a sack over Nicholas.”
In their minds, they had already tortured Nicholas in every possible way, over and over again.

The eight Vance brothers turned to look at him, and the air around them seemed to fill with a dark, oppressive atmosphere.
Edward’s mustache twitched, but he pretended not to notice. He glanced at Arnold and whispered, “Your son seems to be in some danger. Aren’t you going to do something about it?”
‘Getting involved with Sharon is really not easy. Convincing her eight brothers was already a huge challenge,‘ Edward thought and sighed inwardly.
Arnold raised an eyebrow and looked at the couple in the middle of the dance floor. Nicholas, who was usually aloof, had actually taken the initiative to invite Sharon to dance. Although Nicholas had a stern expression, Arnold could immediately see the hidden intentions in his eyes.
Arnold spoke calmly, “If he likes her, then he should deal with the trouble himself.”
Nicholas had always been a bit of a rebel. When he was learning to walk, he wouldn’t let anyone hold him and insisted on doing it by himself. He took his first steps with short, wobbly legs, looking as if he could conquer the world.
Arnold snorted, even thinking that Nicholas was more stubborn than he was. He was curious to see if there was anything his son couldn’t handle.
If Nicholas came to him for help, Arnold would consider it. After all, it was a matter of his marriage. Both father and son were equally scheming.
In the center of the dance floor, Sharon’s black skirt swirled with her steps. Her posture was elegant and charming, and her casual movements exuded mystery and allure.
She was a fallen demon with black wings, rebellious and untamed. He was a pure angel with a white halo, unreachable and divine.
The extreme black and pure white blended together, creating a perfect visual feast. The forbidden and mysterious, the interplay of black and white, all came together in a mesmerizing dance.

The elegant duet was danced with a unique feeling by the two. When the music ended, everyone was still in a daze,
“Great job, that was wonderful.” Edward clapped his hands enthusiastically, nodding in approval. In his eyes, the two were a perfect match.
Wendy also clapped her hands with a smile, happy to see her son dance after such a long time. It looks like Nicholas has finally met his destined lady. After all, God will guide you to your other half, she thought to herself.
The enthusiastic applause lingered in the hall for a long time. Sharon stopped and smiled slightly. “Not bad.”
Nicholas looked down. “You look beautiful today.”
In fact, black really suited her. It was as if it were a color born for her, mysterious and alluring, drawing people closer and making them want to explore the secrets hidden within.
Sharon met his cool and earnest gaze, and her heartbeat couldn’t help but skip a beat. She averted her eyes. “Thank you.”
“Shari, you must be tired. Come over and have something to eat,” Marvin suddenly interjected, separating the two. Then Richard led Sharon away.
Earlier, they hadn’t wanted to interrupt Sharon’s opening dance; otherwise, they would have thrown Nicholas out long ago.
Marvin glared at Nicholas menacingly. “Man, you’ve got some nerve, daring to put your arm around Shari right in front of us.”
“I’ll take responsibility,” Nicholas replied in a flat tone.
“Take responsibility? Who cares about it?” Marvin was almost hopping mad. ‘Nicholas still had the audacity to talk about taking responsibility? Not a chance,‘ he thought to himself.
“Nick, you don’t know yet, do you? When they were at the hotel entrance just now, they said they didn’t care about the engagement with the Baxter family. That’s such a disrespect to the Baxter family,” Ashley said deliberately, intending to sow discord between them and show the Baxter family members how ungrateful Sharon was.
‘The Baxter family is the top family. With so many people around, they definitely won’t swallow this insult. It would be best if they canceled the engagement on the spot. Then I might have a chance,‘ Ashley thought.
Sharon’s eyes narrowed instantly, a glint of darkness flashing within. What a clumsy attempt to stir trouble.
Nicholas remained calm. “It’s okay. I’ll make her accept the engagement.”
Ashley’s mind went blank with shock. “Nick, what are you saying? Sharon is so ungrateful, and you’re still defending her?”
“Ungrateful? Are you being polite? An impolite woman like you should leave the party right away. Want a lesson, huh?” Marvin rolled up his sleeves immediately. ‘How dare you insult Shari? Are you asking for trouble?‘ he thought.
Ashley screamed in fright and threw herself into Nicholas’s arms. A flash of triumph crossed her eyes; she wasn’t scared at all. But Nicholas dodged to the side.
Ashley missed and face–planted into the floor. The zipper on the back of her tight dress burst open.
This scene was completely unexpected by everyone.
Ashley clutched her dress in embarrassment. She hadn’t expected Nicholas to dodge. Looking up with feigned hurt, she said, “Nick, do you really hate
me that much?”
Janelle rushed over and wrapped her daughter in her suit jacket. She glared at Nicholas. “You grew up together. Is this something a gentleman should
do?”
“You’re right; it’s all Nicholas’s fault.” Wendy quickly stepped in to smooth things over. She nudged Nicholas. “I know boys and girls shouldn’t be too intimate, but when she threw herself at you, you could have at least caught her.”

Chapter 59
Nicholas raised an eyebrow. “Sorry. I didn’t see it coming”
Janelle’s temples throbbed with anger. ‘Ashley’s move was so obvious, and yet you claim you didn’t see it? What a liar, she thought. But they had to swallow this humiliation.
Janelle took her foolish daughter and left, with no intention of staying at the party any longer. They had come to see Sharon’s downfall, but instead, they became the laughingstock. It was infuriating.
A glint of amusement flickered in Sharon’s eyes. He must have dodged on purpose. After all, Nicholas was quite agile and definitely saw it coming Although the move wasn’t very gentlemanly, Sharon liked it.
When their eyes met, Richard stepped in between them, coughed, and said in a formal tone, “Let’s continue with the party.”
Nicholas couldn’t help but roll his eyes, thinking, ‘Can’t you give me a chance here?‘
