My steps faltered, my mind going blank, but my wolf snorted coldly before I could:
I walked in.
I was dressed casually today–white shirt, jeans, hair simply tied back with a band, no makeup. But my features were striking, my eyes deep, with a few strands of hair falling alongside my cheeks,
adding an unrefined, pure beauty.
In the living room, Rowan saw me and was visibly startled. “Why are you…”
“Your mother called me here,” I replied calmly, my tone laced with sarcasm. “Wait, weren’t you supposed to be in Switzerland? What, have you recently learned teleportation?”
A flicker of hesitation crossed his eyes, but he said nothing.
Moira Ashenford rose from the sofa and walked up to me, extending her hand with a challenging
smile: “Hello, I’m Moira.”
I didn’t even glance at her, completely ignoring her.
Mrs. Mercer walked in at the perfect moment, smiling warmly as she took Moira’s hand. “Moira, are you enjoying yourself today? Make yourself at home–this is your house too.”
Then she glanced at me and casually introduced me to Moira: “This is Elara, a manager from one of our corporation’s departments. I called her in today to discuss some business.”
Hmph.
Everyone knew I was Rowan’s legitimate Luna.
Yet she deliberately lowered my status in front of everyone, using the term “employee” to diminish
- me.
I didn’t respond to her, just quietly watched Rowan’s face.
I wanted to see–how he would react.
But he remained silent, his expression calm, without even the slightest intention of defending me.

It wasn’t that he didn’t understand; this was humiliating me. He simply didn’t care anymore.
“Mrs. Mercer, didn’t you say you wanted to discuss something with me? Let’s talk here then,” I said, looking at her.
She showed her displeasure. “Another time. Since you’re here, don’t rush off–stay for a meal.”
“No, I have other matters to attend to.”
I turned to leave.
Her voice, cold and sharp, came from behind me: “When an elder asks you to stay for a meal, it’s a
matter of respect. How ill–mannered!”
I paused, turned back to look at her calmly, and after a moment, said softly: “Fine, I’ll stay for the meal–don’t regret it.”
I walked straight over and chose a single seat.
Moira shamelessly sat next to Rowan, hugging his arm: “Brother Rowan, let’s continue our game~”
Rowan withdrew his arm, his gaze falling on me.
“Do you know how to play this game?” Moira looked at me with a smile, her eyes full of challenge.
I glanced at the cards in their hands–a simplified variant of a strategy confrontation board game,
similar to UNO but with added psychological elements.
It was clearly a party game, yet they were playing it like some intimate pastime. Rowan was even deliberately losing to her.
It wasn’t that he didn’t know how to please people; he just didn’t want to please me.
I smiled, my tone cold: “Yes, I do. Does Princess Moira want to play?”
Rowan’s eyes held a subtle warning.
Moira confidently took out the cards. “Then let’s play a round. Which color deck would you like, Miss
Elara?”
I picked up the green deck and said softly: “Green. It suits me.”

Rowan: “”
Moira and Mrs. Mercer were about to laugh, but suddenly realized the implication of my words, and their expressions changed abruptly.
She gritted her teeth and played her first card.
Initially, she had good luck, and my plays were unhurried, as if I were making random moves. Mrs.
Mercer kept giving Rowan triumphant looks.
