Chapter 15
Adam’s apple bobbed. “There’s really nothing between us.”
I said nothing.
He continued: “I admit, at first I did find her cute and refreshing… but that was just a brotherly feeling toward a sister.”
I slowly looked up at him, my gaze venomous: “You spent many nights together. A brother sleeping
with his sister? That’s incest.”
His face stiffened. “She’s talking nonsense. You know her personality—”
“Oh, strange personality, talks nonsense, and spoiled. Didn’t you find that interesting and cute?”
He stopped, speechless.
He sighed, “Anyway… there won’t be anything between us. When you return from your trip, we can
start trying for a baby, okay?”
I looked at him and suddenly smiled.
“So… the position of Rowan’s luna will always be mine, is that it? You play around freely outside, then come back expecting me to bear your children? What do you take me for?”
He clearly thought my smile meant I had “calmed down,” and suddenly stepped forward to embrace
me: “Darling, I love you.”
I didn’t push him away, but my gaze was hollow, as if staring at a stranger,
He carefully helped me upstairs and called a family doctor to examine my waist injury.
After confirming there was no bone damage, he finally relaxed.
I went into the bathroom.
He followed me in.
“Let me help you wash.”

“…No need.”
My gaze was ice–cold.
If he dared to touch me with those hands that had touched another woman, I might really run to the kitchen for a knife.
He seemed to sense my aversion and didn’t insist. “I’ll be right outside the door. Call if you need me.”
“Mm.”
When I came out after showering, he was still at the door.
I was wearing a light pink silk nightgown, my collarbones and shoulders half–exposed, my wet hair clinging to my cheeks. He stared at me, his gaze darkening.
I sat on the edge of the bed, and seeing the look in his eyes, I coldly said: “My waist hurts. If you have any ideas tonight, I can’t satisfy you.”
He approached me, gently wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, placing a kiss on my shoulder: “I’ll be gentle…”
“I’m tired, in pain, and not in the mood.”
His movements stopped.
He stared at me for a few seconds, then finally let go. “Sleep well.”
He turned and left, closing the door very softly, yet coldly.
The next day, I called Lilith.
“You have wide connections, right? Help me find out about Garrett Wylder,” I said.
She laughed seductively on the other end: “Are you after the man or his money?”
“The money.”
“Leave it to me,” she readily agreed.
Rowan’s controlling nature was too strong. If I wanted to leave him completely, I needed to find a
more powerful backer.

Chapter 15
Perhaps Garrett Wylder would be a good choice.
After hanging up, I opened my laptop and searched for information about him.
There was pitifully little.
I only learned he was the third son of the Wylder family, one of the oldest families supposedly connected to royalty.
While I was deep in thought, the study door opened.
Rowan stood in the doorway, looking down at me.
I slowly closed my laptop and looked up:
‘Something you need?”
‘Do I need a reason to come in?” Rowan appeared in my study doorway.
I smiled faintly: “…Of course not. After I’m gone, you can run in naked if you want–no one will stop you.”
His eyes flickered, glancing at the computer screen I had just closed. Clearly, I didn’t want him to see what I had been researching, and he wasn’t stupid.
He came in and sat in the recliner in the corner of my study, his voice deep: “There’s something I want to let you know in advance.”
