She went to the balcony and blasted him: “Alpha Rowan, isn’t Ela’s disappearance convenient for you? Now no one will interfere with you and your mistress. How peaceful!”
There was silence on the other end for a few seconds.
“Let me speak to her.”
“She can’t talk,” Alice laughed coldly. “Maybe she’s jumped into the sea in despair. Why don’t you go look for her?”
I took the phone.
“Stop bothering Alice. I’ll come back.”
There was a second of silence on the other end.
“Where are you? I’ll come get you. Is your waist still hurting?”
“Heh.”
I suddenly laughed.
“Rowan Mercer, your fake concern gives me goosebumps.”
After a few more seconds of silence, Rowan spoke again, his tone slightly softer, as if trying to calm
me: “Today was in the heat of the moment… I didn’t mean to…”
“Stop,” I interrupted him.
Every word from him seemed to drip with a greasy hypocrisy. My wolf snorted coldly inside.
“Intentional or not, it doesn’t change the fact that you laid hands on me,” I said flatly.
“Fine, fine, it’s all my fault,” his breathing grew heavier. “Tell me where you are. I need to know
now!”
I narrowed my eyes: “I said I’ll come back.”
“You must come back tonight,” his voice suddenly rose, emotions out of control. “Otherwise I’ll turn this entire pack upside down to find you!”
The familiar controlling behavior was back.

I remained silent for a moment, then finally relented: “…I’ll be there in an hour.”
I couldn’t let him find my new home. When he went crazy, he was capable of anything.
On the way, Alice drove me back, cursing and complaining: “He’s done everything to wrong you, yet still acts so high and mighty… Is it his natural Alpha dominance? No matter how strong he is, he can‘ treat you like this! If he finds out you tricked him into signing the divorce papers, I’m afraid he’ll strangle you.”

I glanced at him, changed my shoes, and walked inside.
