Rowan quickly took off his suit jacket and draped it over Moira.
She wailed in his arms, crying as if the sky was falling.
“Get out!” Rowan roared, completely ignoring how pale I was, barely able to stand.
Ronan finally snapped to attention and rushed to support me. “Are you alright?!”
Through gritted teeth, I whispered: “Rowan Mercer… you disgust me.”
I pushed Ronan away and forced myself to walk out.
My body felt like it was falling apart, pain mixing with my wolf’s low howl as it surged through my
mind.
He didn’t come after me.
In the elevator, I leaned against the corner and called Alice.
“Alice… I want to end this early. I… really don’t want to see his face anymore.”
My voice was barely a whisper, my chest burning with pain.
I didn’t want anyone to see me like this. I avoided the project department and forced myself to leave through the back door, heading straight to my new home.
Alice’s voice was urgent: “Where are you?”
I gave her the address.
“I’m coming right away.”
She wasn’t just my lawyer but a lifelong friend.
I knew she would come.
I sat in the elevator, my long hair falling in front of my face, turning my world black.

My wolf was breathing shallowly–it was exhausted too.
After some time, a cool, deep male voice suddenly spoke:
“Are you finished?”
I jerked my eyes open, turning in shock.
On the other side of the elevator stood a tall, austere figure. A black suit wrapped around his slender form, his deep eyes concealing a cool sharpness.
It was him.
The man who had given me his suit jacket in the rain that night.
My body reflexively flinched, instinctively moving to shield myself.
He glanced at me, his well–defined hand reaching over to gently push me aside, his fingers precisely landing on the elevator’s fingerprint lock.
I froze.
So… the elevator hadn’t moved because I was blocking the starter.
How embarrassing.
‘Garrett Wylder.”
I felt as if I’d just been awakened from a fog.
Only then did I realize he was telling me his name.
The numbers began to change. I secretly glanced at his floor: 46, the penthouse.
My face was already burning with embarrassment.
Just then, his phone rang.
He answered, his tone still detached:
“Yes? Measurements?… Miss Elara asked.”

I slowly turned my head, my vision blurring with overwhelming shame.
He glanced at me, his expression as calm as ink.
“…Would you like to take your own measurements, Miss Elara?”
“Ding-”
The elevator doors opened, and I bolted out, clutching my waist as if running for my life.
