Chapter 8
“Luma, please don’t do this to me,” Jake begged, crawling forward. “I admit it–I was a total bastard. I took advantage of your love, thinking I could tourt you however I wanted and you’d never leave.”
“I never thought you’d actually walk away. Now I’m terrified. Believe it or not, you were always my real wife in my heart by was just come plaything I used when I was bored.”
Ivy trembled violently beside him, tears splattering onto the floor. She didn’t dare speak a word.
I’d had enough. I kicked him away and called security to throw both of them out.
“If either of them shows up again,” I told the guards, “don’t bother with warnings–just beat them and toss
On our wedding day, Sebastian arrived early to pick me up.
We had just reached the hotel when someone burst in, panicking.
them.”
“Miss Shred! Mr. Griffin is on the roof threatening to jump! Says if he doesn’t see you in ten minutes, he’s going over the edger
I didn’t want to deal with this crap, but with so many guests around, he could ruin the entire wedding.
I sighed, exhausted. Sebastian pulled me into his arms, gently kissing my forehead. “Go. I’ll be here waiting to marry you when you get back.”
Jake’s eyes lit up the second he saw me.
In just a few days, he’d aged decades. Dirty clothes, hollow eyes, cheekbones jutting out–he radiated darkness.
“Luna! I knew you still cared about me,” he said, practically drooling.
I stared at him, ice–cold. “I’ve already told you–we’re done. You can jump right now and I wouldn’t even blink.”
Something desperate flashed in his eyes.
“Why? What does Sebastian have that I don’t? I just made the same mistake every man makes! I’ve learned my lesson–why won’t you give me another
chance?”
“You think Sebastian is any better? He’s a man too. I know how men, think. You really believe he won’t cheat after you’re married?”
I wrinkled my nose in disgust. “Don’t imagine all men are garbage like you.”
Jake’s eyes turned red, tears streaming down his face. “Fine. I’ll let you go. Just one last request–kiss me one last time before you marry someone else.”
“Are you insane?”
Jake laughed manically. “If you don’t kiss me, I’ll jump. Blood will splatter all over your wedding. Your anniversary will forever be my death day. You’ll never forget me.”
After a moment of silence, I reluctantly nodded.
Before approaching him, I discreetly signaled to the rescue team standing by.
Just as I got within arm’s reach, Jake suddenly lunged at me, eyes wild with madness. “If I can’t have you, Sebastian won’t either. Luna, let’s be husband and wife in the afterlife!”
In that split second, a wild–haired Ivy appeared out of nowhere, clutching a pillow, screaming like a lunatic, “You killed my baby! You’ll pay with your
life!”
She slammed into us–boom–and we went over the railing. In that split second I thought, I’m dead, a hand snapped out of nowh like a vice.
d grabbed me
Sebastian yanked me up, and right then, two gross thuds echoed from below.
I huddled in his arms, shaking uncontrollably.

“Don’t be afraid. It’s over. I’m here,” he whispered.
Pressed against his strong heartbeat, I quickly calmed down.
Jake and Ivy died on the spot.
We postponed our wedding by a day. Sharing an anniversary with the day Jake died would’ve been too messed up.
A year later, we welcomed twin daughters.
Sebastian named them Summer and Peace.
For the rest of our lives, we enjoyed endless summers of peace.
