Chapter 5
The entire hall went dead silent, like someone had hit pause on the world. You could’ve heard a pin drop
BANG!
Jake slammed his fist on the table, the noise ringing out like a gunshot in the dead quiet room, the sound echoing.
“This is impossible! There must be some mistake!” he shouted, completely losing control.
Around the room, people began whispering, not even trying to hide their gossip.
“I thought the Shred–Griffin marriage was a done deal. Turns out he’s just the clown at his own circus.”
“Look at him–five minutes ago strutting around like he already owned Shred Industries. Talk about major ego trip.”
“You know the Griffins only made it into Boston’s elite circle because of the Shreds‘ connections, right? They’re basically nobodies with fancy clothes And there’s Jake, playing billionaire with Daddy’s borrowed money. If I were him, I’d be too embarrassed to show my face in public again.”
Jake’s face cycled through every shade from ghostly white to burning red. He turned to me, teeth clenched.
“Luna, tell everyone this is a mistake,” he hissed. “Tell them I’m the one you’re marrying.”
I stared at him coldly.

Even now, after everything, he still believed I couldn’t possibly choose anyone but him.
I laughed, each word deliberate and sharp. “There’s no mistake. My choice for marriage is Sebastian. You and I have nothing to do with each other
anymore.”
“That’s not possible… you love me. You said you’d only ever marry me!” His eyes bulged with shock. “How could you marry this–this pretentious bastard?”
He looked like his entire world was collapsing.
“Did he seduce you? Did he come between us? Luna, Sebastian’s a psychopath! He’s been stalking you for years! He’s obsessed with you! I’m the only one who truly loves you!”
I gave him a smile dripping with contempt.
“Come between us? Was there even anything left to come between? You humiliated me repeatedly for Ivy, walked all over me, threw away my ring, and destroyed the wedding dress my mother left me. And you have the face to talk about ‘true love“?”
With each word I spoke, Jake’s face grew more ashen until he looked like a ghost.
“From the moment you abandoned me to run to Ivy, you lost any right to stand beside me.”
I stepped back, ignoring the desperation in his eyes.
”
“Actually, this works out perfectly. Since you love Ivy so much, you can have her. I wish you both a lifetime of misery together.”
With that, I took Sebastian’s arm and turned to leave.
“No, wait, I can explain…” Jake lunged forward, trying to grab me.
My father’s security team immediately blocked his path.
“That’s quite enough, Mr. Griffin,” my father sneered, his frown deepening, his voice icy with contempt.
Jake forced a nervous laugh. “Mr. Shred, please, talk some sense into Luna. She’s always loved me! Sebastian must have cheated her. You can’t trust him with your daughter or your company. He’s a total fraud!”
“Enough!” My father’s boardroom voice silenced Jake instantly. “I may be getting older, but I can still tell the difference between a man and a parasite.”

Chapter S
Jake stood frozen, not daring to breathe.
“I’ve known about everything you did to my daughter. I overlooked it only because of how deeply she once loved you,” my father confirmed “But now that she’s made her choice to cut you out of her life completely, I hope you can accept it.”
“Keep pushing, and I’ll make sure the Griffins name becomes a joke in every boardroom from Boston to New York”
Security escorted Jake out, and he fled the gala in disgrace, the whispers and pointing of the elite following him all the way to the door.
